The Great Barn Hunt

by

Ever since I posted about Sarah’s hunt for a barn near Sydney (see the post here) to hold her wedding in, I’ve had countless emails from couples looking for barns for their own weddings.

So today I’m going to share with you my barn like finds around Sydney. (This list will be ever growing).

The search was a difficult one – Australia doesn’t seem to have many big empty barns like the original one requested above, but I did manage to find some venues which may give the same feel for your wedding.

The Great Cask Hall

The Great Cask Hall is located in Hope Estate Winery, Pokolbin. Within the gorgeous wine region of the Hunter Valley, The Great Cask Hall allows you and your guests to sit and celebrate amongst 56 enormous wine barrels and can cater up to 180 guests.

Belgenny Farm has a function room known as The Granary which can seat up to 200 guests.

Peppers Creek

Peppers Creek is located two hours north of Sydney out of Cessnock.

The venue has a mud brick chapel and barrel room adjacent to each other, with the chapel featuring folding glass doors to let in the views of the surrounding vineyards. The venue can seat 150 guests.

Barns…. I think that would make a great reception for weddings up north and spring weddings. Great idea/post! I think this one is worth looking into.

    Great idea Angela!

I think barns are lovely DDF! Although they seem in short supply for functions in Australia!

These places all look fantastic, just what I’m after….except they’re in NSW. I would be very interested to hear if you have found any similar venues in VIC. I have found Stones of the Yarra Valley and Emu Bottom Homestead.

I’ve also been on a barn hunt in the same kind of area. I was at Undercliff yesterday and although it is amazing, the barn is taken up with their wine brewing stuff, you could probably fit about 50ppl in around that. Such a shame. Ooh I want a barn so bad.

Your Barn Wedding list for Victoria is fantastic, but has anyone got a list happening for South Australia? In particular the South East? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please help!

I LOVE THIS IDEA! A barn wedding! Can anyone help me around ACT or Bowral area. I love the rustic look, so it doesnt have to be a barn as such, just with the same feel.
    Thank you :-)
