A happy colour that is either all sunshine and lollipops, or rich and sumptuous!

–    Combine with deep olive green and mustard/gold, cream

–    With fresh green, orange and touches of cherry red

–    With slate blue, soft grey and touches of black

–    With hot pink and orange and touches of soft green

–    With purple blue (think grape hyacinths) and mid pink

–    With white, yellow polka dots or stripes  as your only colour accent

–    Daffodils, yellow roses, variegated ivy, white flowers, tropical leaves, lupins, pots of begonias, ranunculus, chrysanthemums. Tropical flowers such as frangipani (choose from white with yellow centre or mid pink with yellow petals – just stunning!), ornamental gingers, heliconias

–    Lollipops, all day suckers, jelly beans, rock candy, golden delicious apples dipped in toffee, vanilla cupcakes iced in white with touches of your other colours, profiterole towers covered in spun toffee and dotted with tiny saffron sugar flowers, cocktail based on Strega, a golden coloured liqueur

–    Gingham, checks, stripes – think fabric tented ceilings, checked napkins or striped chair covers for a casual feel, natural coloured raffia, old wire baskets, birdcages

–    Crystal and metal candelabra,  coloured or white candles, crystal beaded napkin rings which could double as favours for your guests

–    Tall arrangements or topiaries of mangoes, greenery and white flowers such as stephanotis

–    Saffron yellow edged crockery, on white linen with low silver vases of yellow, pink and mauve flowers, or long low containers crowded with grape hyacinths, pink rose petals strewn over the tables, place or menu cards in mauve, silver flatware

–    Saffron invitations with a border and script picking up the other colours in your scheme, in lustred and matt papers to add interest

–    Yellow paper lanterns strung from trees, flower garlands around doorways, on railings, on tall floor standing candelabras, white tables and chairs with white linen edged in yellow, with or without beads, topiary fruiting lemon trees

–    Give your reception venue a conservatory feel with lots of lattice, large floral arrangements and hanging greenery from ferns, ivy,  tables and chairs in wrought iron and wood, yellow striped cushions, glass lanterns, a dessert table with desserts covered by glass bell jars

–    With the darker colours, saffron could look sumptuous with damask, tapestry weaves, velvet, tassels, mix and match patterns, a medieval feel, black wrought iron, dark wood, richly coloured glassware, gold, open fires, mulled wine

–    For favours – tiny packets of saffron threads, spices, preserved lemons, lemon butter, lemon biscuits
