Polka Dot Bride Interesting fact #345: Posts about shoes get the most comments!

Here at Polka Dot Bride, we all agree that this has got to be our favourite online shoe store Shoes Of Prey. We were pretty excited when we discovered the wonder of this website back in October last year.

We were even more excited when they introduced some divine Italian silks in April- perfect for brides! Forget about buying the shoes that everyone else buys for your wedding day – you can design your own! Choose from a variety of leathers, styles, colours and finishes and be as ‘way out’ or conservative as you choose. This is your chance to put your own special stamp on your wedding day shoes!

In addition to designing something unique for your wedding day, your bridesmaid’s can all design a shoe in the same colour but come up with their own take on the design, and choose their own heel heights. So they’ll each be comfortable and feel fantastic!

These would make the perfect pair of bridal shoes for me because I want to wear an awesome tea length dress with a lovely olive green petticoat underneath. My bridesmaids would be wearing purple (but seeing there was no purple in the soft leather, I went with hot pink…) so I wanted to bring their colour into my shoes as well. This would awesome if the light olive green colour came in the new Italian Silk, because it is SO hard to find green shoes! And these shoes will have the added bonus of being only 2″ high, which means my feet won’t be killing me by the end of the day, and I won’t be taller than my fiance!

    Thanks! xo

I would adore these shoes for my wedding because my theme is oyster, a colour similar to the light pink but i dont want boring “nice” shoes i want WOW shoes for my wedding! I dont want them to match perfectly i want the to stand out and when people see a peek of them under my dress think they are hot shoes! I also would love them to have a wedge because our wedding is a garden wedding at the end of April so the ground will be soggy and i dont want to sink! And they would be cute with jeans after the wedding!

    Thanks!

While I don’t think that a classic sling back in Italian White Silk is plain, some people may think they are. Why submit something that is plain? Because for me it is the answer to my white wedding dreams. Not only does it match my dress, but it fits my feet. Shoes of Prey are able to make larger sizes – bless them from all the tall brides in Australia!

my future hubby isnt the tallest, so i plan to wear flats so i don’t tower over him, but also so i am comfortable, and don’t sink into the grass. i love this plain silver style, with the pretty floral trim for a bit of colour and girly pizzaz.

I’m looking for some cute flats for the wedding day. Our wedding will be at a vineyard, and the bumpy path is too much for me to negotiate in heels. I wanted something simple, but with a dash of funkiness and originality, and I think the floral pattern fits the bill perfectly! Also, there is a touch of gold in my gown, so I’m glad I could work that into the trimming.

As a girl with big feet (size 11′s!) it’s hard to find shoes for your wedding day that don’t look like they should belong on your grandmother! I wanted something that sort of fit our art deco theme (so not the normal shoes you would see at the races) and added a splash of colour to my ivory dress. These fit the whole thing perfectly and were fun to design to make sure that they are ‘just right’.

Also, we know our colors will be navy and something so these would be the perfect bit of “something blue” for me to have on and would look cute in a picture in the middle of my bridesmaid with their navy dresses on if I pick up my dress to reveal my blue dancing shoes!

I consider these shoes to be just what I am after for my wedding day – absolute understated elegance!!

The look I am aiming to achieve on my wedding day is ethereal vintage romance. These shoes would tie in beautifully with my couture gown which incorporates a gorgeous beaded tulle overlay. The ivory of the heels would complement the vintage colours that make-up my gown, while also working in well with our flowers which include mushroom-toned roses. Furthermore, the row of diamantes scream vintage and would work perfectly with the beautiful beads that are a showpiece of my dress.

On an altogether different note, being 4.5inches high these shoes give me the height that I so desperately need. At a mere 155cm I need all the help I can get!

I designed this shoe on a whim, then completely fell in love with it.
It is a perfect shoe for my wedding day: I chose a ballet flat because the wedding is in a garden and I am known to be a klutz so this shoe will save me falling flat on my face. Not to mention I can;t resist anything with a bow. I wanted a shoe that fitted with our hippy picnic wedding, and this shoe with its hints of floral and its understated soft leather definitely meets that criteria (Im thinking Beatles, Woodstock, that sort of thing). Not only that, it is a shoe that I would wear again and again. Bonus!
I think I might just hide with my laptop and drool over my creation now….

Every element of my wedding is special, either handmade or painstakingly thrift-shopped. I can’t imagine a pair of shoes that could possibly be more special, or better fit the theme.

These gorgeous shoes will be for my bridesmaids. The colours of my wedding are grey and yellow with hints of navy. The bridesmaids dresses are grey satin cocktail length so these shoes will be absolutely perfect, the yellow of the shoe will also pick up the little bit of yellow that will be in their bouquets! These shoes deserve to be shown off. They have a small thick heel to allow for hours of dancing!

I have been looking for a shoe for my sisters wedding. I’m her maid of honour, i live for shoes and for the life of me, just cannot seem to find the right style of shoe for my sisters colour scheme and for the dress i have in mind. I’ve been DYING for a snake skin shoe and just haven’t had one because all the shoes that I find in that material don’t sit around my foot properly :( I’ve had to sell shoes because I couldn’t wear them! :( :( :(

Being able to design this shoe, allows me so much! For one, it matches the colour scheme of my sisters wedding. The choice of heel gives me the opportunity to be comfortable, run around for the bride and do all the organising i need to do for her and it’s a shoe that I can wear over… and over… and over… and over.

I love bows. They make me feel all cute! And now i’m taking advantage of it in my shoes! It’s cute right?!?! :) xx

For me the shoe is really important as I am getting married in a tea length dress so they’ll be on show all day.

I am going with the wedge as it’s an outdoor ceremony so they’ll be good on grass. Also I intend to shake it all night long, so I need comfort and style. I think I’ll add some vintage brooches to these for a antique touch.

To me, these are the perfect shoes for a wedding. I’ve been imagining a pair just like this – bright, colourful, but not too high – peaking through under my wedding dress as I walk down the aisle. And yellow is such a happy colour that can tie in with gerberas and sunflowers. I love the floral print, but don’t want it as a focus. I think having a little bit in there on is like having a beautiful lining in a jacket… most people don’t see it, but it makes you smile because you know it’s there.

Yellow is perfect for me, but these could easily be changed to red or blue or green.

I think this design would go well with my petrol-coloured bridesmaid dress (made by Fremantle-based designer, LinPin) for my sister’s wedding. The heel is low enough for comfort, for dancing. The silver colour will match nicely with the dress. The embellishment on the back will add interest to the outfit from the behind (all the embellishments on the dress are on the front) and the navy heel will hopefully help the shoes stay looking fresh, as the ceremony is outdoors in a park and there will be a bit of walking through grass.

These would be the perfect shoes for my wedding because they’re custom. Our motto throughout the planning phase is to keep things meaningful. Although the color says pink, the on-screen color is a deep red, which is my favorite color and our primary wedding color. The blue flowers would be my something blue. I have the hardest time finding shoes that fit (wide feet, fat toes and slim ankles), and I feel like shoes of this great quality would definitely fit and keep my feet happy on the happiest day of my life.

They have a peep toe with a low kitten heel (so I can dance the night away!) I’ve placed a large diamante crusted silk flower on the toe. I am loving all of the new embellishments that can be selected on the site now!

I have my heart set on wearing red closed-toed shoes with a small heel, and I can’t find the right pair anywhere. I’ll need to wear tights because it will be so cold, and I can’t wear a big heel because I’d fall over, and the Groomie would be shorter than me.

I think Italian silk makes them formal and “weddingy” but being able to have red makes them fun. And the flower in white would just top it off perfectly.

I’ve never been a shoe person but I am in love with these shoes!

Why does my Shoes of Prey design make the perfect bridal shoes? They’re not traditional and they’re certainly not conservative. They’re not white or ivory and they may attract attention away from the dress, you’re right. But these cute little ankle boots are perfect because of all these reasons – these shoes are perfect because they’re unique and perfect for ME and my special day…(and I wouldn’t mind attracting attention to these cuties)

I love the idea of being able to incorporate their colours with mine. This was so much fun! As someone who can hardly EVER find great shoes (due to my size 11 feet)..I would love to be able to wear something that makes me feel great. Also, these shoes with some ruffle are perfect for my ruffled wedding! I’m wearing a custom gown with tulle ruffled layers and my bridesmaids are wearing blush pink! These are the perfect accent piece. And it would be so fun with the black lettered bottoms, just for a touch of fun quirkiness! Thank you for this opportunity:)

My ideal bridal shoes are non-traditional, with a unique style and in colours that exude the “wow” effect and match with our theme (teal and tangerine). The fact that you can mix and match materials is totally awesome too. I will be able to enjoy these shoes on the wedding day and long after. Thanks to Shoes of Prey for making this possible!

These shoes would be ideal for my wedding because I’m a little bit clumsy, I need solid heels and I’ll be in an ivory dress with a midnight blue sash!

Plus, I can never go past shoes with a bow!

These stunning shoes are the perfect match for my wedding dress! My wedding dress is full and quite traditional, and I think that these shoes are understated and elegant and will balance out my dress perfectly. I love the detailing on the back of the shoes and the colours match my theme perfectly (think creams, pastel pinks, golds, silk, lace, etc)! Thanks! x

These would be my perfect bridal shoes because of the colour, height, style and colour. They are everything that I want in my wedding shoes. They will go beautifully with my bouquet of white and fuschia coloured anemones, my long floaty white dress and my future husband, who is exactly 1.5 inches taller than me.

These would be the perfect bridesmaid shoes to match our pink dresses – silver Italian silk sling backs with a pink bow and accents. Beautiful, unique and sweet – everything a wedding should be!

These shoes in blue/green snakeskin have the perfect amount of sass for wedding shoes that can be worn with a traditional white gown. They would show my personality while not being too distracting. I love the multi-layered bow on the back. Both pizazz and class. I love them!

Can you imagine? These shoes are more than ideal for me. The sequin would add that bit of sparkle and drama that I would love to add in to my best friends wedding, and the leopard print is what I am all about. I am a bridesmaid, and she has let us girls pick any shoes we want! These shoes just scream me, and they would be absolutely perfect for her Friday the 13th wedding day. They are the perfect combination of my best friend and I, she would love them because they would go so well with her wedding. I am in love with these amazing shoes!!! Good luck to all!

It seems we are doing this all backwards. I have no idea what dress I’m going to wear yet my partner has already bought a suit. Why not choose the shoes first and get a dress that matches later? Simple, cute and a splash of colour. Perfect.

I am all about these shoes. http://www.shoesofprey.com/shoe/cZHg My color scheme is metallics and my dress is white with silver beading and embroidery so I’ve been looking for a silver shoe. I love a little sparkle, and doing the two-tone silver doesn’t overdo it. I like the wide peep toe (no purple toes because all the blood is cut off to your second and third toes!) and the high enough to make your legs look good and have nice posture but low enough so that I can wear them all day and dance my ass off 2.5″ heel is a dream. Plus, the two-tone bow? I die! I think I might need these…

The colors of my wedding are black and white with a touch of tiffany blue. My custom made turquoise and gold snake skin with a touch of white shoes would be the perfect look for my white wedding gown. My wedding gown will be sleek, form fitting and truly my style. These shoes will be the wow factor that make everyone go ooh and ahh :)

My shoes are bright purple and rose pink Italian silk. We are having a destination wedding atop a cliff in Uluwatu, Bali. I am wearing white (obviously) and my bridesmaids are wearing various hues of pink-the colour scheme flows throughout the entire wedding. I think the bright purple shoes will give a beautiful contrast and pop! to all of our outfits! The shoes are perfect!
Thankyou for providing the option of being able to buy the shoes you actually have in mind and want, rather than the closest fit!

I love these shoes. I want something that will hint at the groom’s wingtip shoes (which I also love) and I think the detail on the front is perfect. My dress is a short, off-white shiny dress with a black belt that the ivory would compliment better than any white shoe I’ve seen. I’m not one for heals, but I can manage the 1 1/2 inches because I think they’d look great with the short dress. Overall the shoe looks simple, but I haven’t been able to find this combination of color, style, and heel anywhere!

These shoes would be perfect for my bridesmaids as they are not the tradition bridesmaids shoe. Nothing about our wedding is traditional except for the fact that I am wearing a white dress and my dad is walking me down the aisle. They would also compliment the unique dress that the girls are wearing as it is an nude oyster colour and has a little irridecent gold hue to it.

It doesn’t look like those traditional bridal shoes. It is made of genuine shiny gold snake skin. With the diamante t-bar running down the face of the foot, whenever I take up my dress and take a single step forward, it draws the attention of every guest. However, it would not be overwhelming since the design is slim and light without platform, simple yet elegant. The 3-inch heels are manageable. The most important point is that this pair of shoes creates a timeless look in a fashionable way.

These are my dream shoes… they would go perfectly with my Vera Wang gown (which has been virtually impossible to find shoes to match!!). Bridal shoes tend to be so drab… I want a pair of shoes I will be able to wear more than once, and remember them as my wedding shoes when I go out. They’re gorgeous!

I had an image of my perfect wedding shoes and i haven’t been able to find them anywhere. This website is amazing. I have now designed my dream wedding shoes! We are having a black and white theme so the black silk flower on the toe will really add a nice feature to my whole look. During the reception I am changing into a “party” wedding dress that is shorter and just a bit more fun. Both dresses are different shades of white so i’ve gone for a silver shoe that matches my accessories and i can wear them again. These shoes will go with both dresses and give the shoes a chance to shine rather than be hidden away under a long dress! They are fab!

I am eloping with the love of my life in November on a beach in Fiji, and because I’m a huge fan of heels (plus I’m a shorty), I can’t stand the idea of being barefoot. That’s why I plan to wear awesome high heeled wedges, that will (hopefully) not sink into the sand. These are stunning, I adore the silk ruffle in bright pink, and think this would look amazing teamed with the blue and green fish skin. I know I’d feel a million dollars wearing these shoes and they would definitely add some pizazz and interest to my otherwise quite understated white dress (not to mention how incredible they would look in photos!)

I am entering this for my fiancee. We were best friends for 5 years before we began dating and we’ve now been dating for 10 years. I’ve only now had to courage to ask her to marry me. She talks to me every day about this website, and has been wishing for some for a long time. She showed me her design for her perfect wedding shoes one day after several failed shopping trips with her maid of honour, but she believed they were impossible as they were too expensive. I’ve copied her design, and I plan on giving them to her as a surprise gift.

Our Wedding is a romantic, floaty dreamy affair. It’s going to be fresh and fun and intimate. I want my shoes to capture this floaty romantic vibe and to not hold me back from enjoying the night with my family and friends, I want hubby and I to be the last ones on the dance floor. After 10years together, this will certainly be a party never to forget! These shoes are ballet flats in soft pink hues that I know will ensure my day runs smoothly and I won’t be sore and tired from running around all day. Thanks for this competition x
