Laura and Jacob

Oh I have such a chic wedding for you today – I’m in awe of the couple’s style and sense of glamour at their Noosa wedding.Laura and Jacob married with just 24 guests a few days from their eight year anniversary . After a week of rain, the sun came out five minutes before the ceremony was to begin.

Laura retells how she met her husband. “Jacob and I have been together for 8 years now. We meet through friends at a party. We traveled overseas in May 2009 for a holiday where I had to beg Jacob to go hot air ballooning over Tuscany, Italy. Five minutes into the balloon trip he took the camera off me so he could get my attention and propose, which I had no idea about (6 months earlier I found a personal loan bank statement but Jacob assured me it was a bank error and he would call them to sort it out). I was clueless and after asking if the ring was fake (it was very sparkly) and if he was serious, I said of course ‘yes’.”

Photos today are by Studio Sixty Photography who captured today’s wedding so beautifully- elegant, stylish and a little bit glamorous.

Laura and Jacob held their wedding at The Plantation, Cooroy “ Our location for the wedding was The Plantation, Cooroy. Once this was booked I went with a simple theme to go with the Plantation idea, using trees and white, green, tan and black colours. All the planning I did myself, I love the stationary Poppies for Grace and purchased online their gift cards, swing tags and postcards with recycled kraft paper and a tree print on the front. I designed the rest of the invite by hand and printed directions amongst other things for our guests.”

Laura wore the most amazing pair of shoes. “As a wedding gift Jacob bought me a pair of the most amazing Miu Miu heels. I had been dying to wear them for the wedding but because the ground was so moist from all the rain I wouldn’t have been able to walk on the grass (in the trial run I just sunk into it). I didn’t have a bouquet so I decided that day to carry them down to the ceremony with me and go bare foot.”

Laura bought a Paloma’s Nest Ring Bowl to carry the rings.

Laura wore a stunning Willow gown. “My dress was purchased on a Sydney shopping trip with my best friend and mum, from my favorite label/designer Willow. Jacob gave me as my wedding gift, a pair of amazing Miu Miu heels and my headpiece was from Alannah Hill.”

Jacob wore a suit from Filippa K.

Laura says “I walked down to the ceremony to ‘Breathe Me’ by Sia.”

The ceremony held special moments. Laura says, “I loved writing our ‘special words’ and hearing them for the first time during the ceremony, why we chose to marry each other.”

Of their wedding day, Laura remarks, “It was everything we wanted and hoped for and was very us.”

Even the blackboard had a personal touch. Laura says “I wanted a vintage blackboard to display the menu and after some time searching antique stores with no luck, I came across an antique painters tressel which Jacob made into a blackboard for us. Our favorite candles are Diptyque and keeping with the tree theme we purchased 6 with fragrances like new mown lawn, oak, honey suckle and black currant.” Additional decorations were mason jars, tissue paper pom poms and blooms bought through a flower wholesaler (a friend of a friend).

Laura sourced a lot of the decorations for the wedding on Etsy. “Ribbons, candles, tissue paper pom poms, plush pears, ring plate, and vintage Ball jars. Etsy.com became my favorite site as I found this designer who handmade home décor items (La Pomme). I requested what I was after and she made the pears with the words Live, Laugh, Love for our bombonierre which was placed on each bread plate.

I used the tree print swing tags as name cards and attached to the wine glasses on each place setting. I also used them on champagne glasses with ‘cheers’ on each tag for the toast at the end of the ceremony.”

Laura and Jacob danced together to ‘Stand by Me’ by Ben E King. “We never really had a song which was ours and I have always loved the words.”
