Gee and Matt

I love a good engagement session- props don’t worry me, I never get bored of them  because each couple uses them differently and in a fun way. I do however love it best when the photos capture emotion – a silent gaze, a big enveloping hug or in the case of Gee and Matt- incredible happiness!

Matt explains a little background behind their love and how they chose to have it captured. “We met in high school (year 11) and started dating at the end of year 12. Gee’s family is from India and her father is Hindu, so the Hindu ceremony was very traditional (we had a priest, fire, traditional costumes and the ceremony was done according to Hindu customs). It was a lot of fun, we did this the day before our “actual” wedding (which was done at a Polish church and according to Catholic tradition).

We wanted to do both as Gee and I are both from different backgrounds that are still similar. We both migrated with our parents to Australia at around the age of 4, and we’ve experienced each others cultures by traveling to both Poland and India, it just made sense to incorporate both backgrounds into our wedding.

We’ve been together since 2001, so this year will be our 10 year anniversary, and we married in 2007. Although we got some great photos from our wedding, the experience was very formal and ‘posed’, and 3 years on are becoming somewhat dated. As an anniversary gift to each other we decided to get new photos done. Gee found you guys somehow and we both agreed that this was the kind of shoot we were after. We wanted photos that were professional and elegant but remained candid, fun, and real.

The idea of doing the photoshoot out in the field actually came to us after Love Katie & Sarah sent through links to some other photo shoots that inspired them. We had a look through and both brainstormed some ideas that were “us”. Like most couples, we love to just hang out at home together on the couch, watch a good movie or TV show, talk and have a laugh together. We really liked the style of shoots that Love Katie & Sarah had that were outdoors and had that dreamy picnic feel so it was a natural progression to move the living room to the outdoors. To us it means the photos have a very personal element, and feel like ‘home’ but still transport us away to somewhere else, to a dream. ”

Today’s shoot is by Love, Katie & Sarah Photographers who are so wonderful at capturing the essence of a couple! Have a lovely weekend!
