Jane and Vin

A wedding filled with colour always makes me happy, like a lollipop or a musk stick in the middle of a grey winter day, a burst of colour and the surrounding wedding warms my heart. Especially when it does actually involve lollipops like today’s scrumptious delights!

The story of how the newlyweds met, as told at their wedding reception. “Vin and I met 5 years ago whilst both working at the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. Here is a snippet from our wedding ceremony… Now, I don’t know how many of you know this story, however Vin is still adamant to this day that in the beginning Jane stalked him. Now according to Vin, Jane sent him and a couple of other people an email saying that they should give her their phone numbers in case she ever needed them “for whatever reason”.

Vin, after playing hard to get for a little while, gave Jane his number. The very next day, Jane phoned Vin and as they were talking she asked him where he lived. At the time Vin was living right here in Riverside Gardens and when Vin told Jane this she said “Well wouldn’t you know, I happen to be driving past Riverside Gardens right now!” Needless to say, Jane promptly invited herself over to Vin’s house and as you know…… the rest is history. As you would imagine, the way Jane tells the story is a little different!

According to Jane, Vin could not get enough of her! After initially hitting it off at the work Christmas party Vin would find any excuse to email Jane or come see her. For example, on the night of the Christmas party Vin, who is ALWAYS the designated driver, dropped a bunch of people home, including Jane. That night Jane was wearing a blue sequined dress and a heap of the sequins had fallen off the dress into Vin’s car. So that next week at work Vin tracked Jane down and handed her an envelope, in the envelope was every last sequin Vin had hand picked out of his car! Vin kept trying to resist Jane’s charms, even at one stage trying to use their age difference as a reason to stay away from her, asking her “what would I do, take you to McDonald’s for a Happy Meal?” Eventually he gave in and again as you know…. the rest is history. But whichever story you decide to believe, you all know that Jane and Vin are a match made in heaven.”

Photos today are by Insight Creative Photography who have such a fun, happy way of shooting and so obviously delight in the work that they do.

Jane chose the Alex Perry ‘Cindy’ gown for her wedding day and paired it with Panache Bridal Shoes ‘Mia’ in ivory. The flowers were styled by Malpara Florists.

The stationery was created by Jane’s friend Jo.

Jane and Vin were married at Riverside Gardens. “We had our ceremony in a suburb of Townsville called Riverside Gardens, it is where my husband was living when we first started dating. It was very private and very peaceful.” Jane walked down the aisle to “Songbird” by Eva Cassidy.

Jane says “I splurged on a lot of areas of the wedding so I wanted to find a way to cut costs but still have what I wanted. My mum made the bridesmaid dresses, my friend Jo designed all of the printed material and I saved a fortune by filling vases with lemons as the table centrepieces.”

Jane and Vin celebrated with their guests with a reception at Jupiter’s Townsville. A beautifully coloured dessert buffet was created by Leonie of Happy Cakes.

The photo booth added to the fun of the night, and the romantic moments kept coming, especially with the first dance. Jane recalls “Our first dance was to ‘Stand by me’ by Ben E King. Vin picked the song. It sums up our relationship, we are a team and we know we can get through even the toughest of times together.”

The reception ended with the best surprises of all. “We announced to all of our family and friends that we were expecting our first child during the speeches at the reception! (We had a little girl on 14 December 2010 named Tinsley Jane).”

Congratulations Jane & Vin! Thank you for sharing your special day on Polka Dot Bride! Thank you also to by Insight Creative Photography for sharing today’s photographs!
