Emelia and Anthony

When a wedding is so full of emotion like today’s with a bridesmaid that makes me smile with her laughter, a soft hug between the newlyweds and an added bonus of a stunning location, stunning Johanna Johnson wedding gown and delicious light to boot, it’s hard not to make a Tuesday like this one, pretty great!

Our couple have been together for nearly ten years – meeting at a party in high school. They wed, recently on the NSW South Coast in what the bride Emelia describes as, “An absolute dream wedding and exactly how we both wanted it to be.”

Photographs today are by Christine Pobke of Pobke Photography. I love how Christine used the light, the mood and the personality of the couple to tell the story, to create beautiful photographs and memories of Emelia and Anthony’s wedding day.

Emelia’s bridesmaids wore floor length blush pink gowns made by Gloria Grady (02) 6280 9334.

Emelia chose a Johanna Johnson gown and hairpiece with shoes from Cinderella Bella and held a bouquet of light pink and white David Austin Roses created by Miss Shelleys Flowers 0422 687 854 who did the flowers for the wedding.

The groom and groomsmen wore suits from Roger David.

The ceremony was moved at the last minute. Emelia recalls, “We always wanted a coastal/beach wedding and Gerringong is both of our favourite holiday spots. It was lucky that there is a beautiful hotel (Bellachara Boutique Hotel) in the area to hold the reception. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good enough to have the ceremony at the beach so we used our back up venue which was a lovely little chapel on the main street of Gerringong (Chittick Lodge Chapel) with a backdrop of the mountains. Rachel (wedding planner at Bellachara Boutique Hotel) ordered a whole lot of flowers at the last minute to make sure it looked beautiful inside.

We pretty much outsourced most things. After making our own engagement invitations at the start of the process we decided that some things were worth paying for. We especially made sure we didn’t have much to do on the day or the few days leading up to it so we could relax and enjoy ourselves.”

Emelia walked down the aisle to “Marry Me” by Train.

Emelia remarks, “The celebrant Gail Everard did a beautiful job at making the ceremony personal, romantic and relaxed.”

The stunning photographs were an adventure for the bridal party. Emelia remarks, “The photos were a bit of an adventure. We walked through water to get photos at the rock pool and then trekked through marshland to get photos taken under the giant fig tree. Thankfully both were worth it.”

Clipper Limousines provided the Kombi bus as transport for the bridal party. Emelia recalls “We were undecided whether to use the bus as our wedding car because we weren’t really fussed about what cars we used. The whole idea of the bus was that the wedding party would all travel together and could have a joke and a laugh while doing photos etc. The bus was a huge hit on the day and all the members of our bridal party had a ball in it.”

The reception was held at the Bellachara Boutique Hotel.

The reception was decorated with fresh flowers. Emelia says “The centrepieces of each table were giant vases filled with tortured willow and assorted flowers such as Hydrangeas, Lisianthus’, delphiniums and David Austen roses all in pale pink and white. They made the reception room look amazing.  ”

Round the Corner played the entertainment on the night and the newlyweds did a quick and sweet first dance. Emelia explains “It was to ‘Arithmetic’ by Brooke Taylor, we made sure the bridal party, parents etc came up pretty quickly to take the attention off our dancing. It was really difficult to move around in my dress.”

Guests never left the dance floor, though there was a little use for the favours Emelia and Anthony picked out. “The bonbonniere included personalised cigars for the boys (Anthony’s idea) and personalised m&ms for the girls, both of which we found over the internet.”

Congratulations Amelia and Anthony! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us on Polka Dot Bride! Thank you also to Christine of Christine Pobke of Pobke Photography. for sharing today’s images!
