Alynda and Jason

We’re not ones to post weddings that have been published elsewhere on Polka Dot Bride – not only because we know you like to see fresh content, but also out of respect to our fellow publications who take so much care and effort in writing about these stories. Today however, I suppose is cheating a little – the lovely Mrs Jaguar from Weddingbee sent over her wedding photographs and I couldn’t resist sharing them! Weddingbee is the first wedding blog I ever read – way back in 2006 and I loved seeing Mrs Jaguar, the first Australian bride to share her wedding day story on the site!

The couple met through their shared love of music. Alynda explains “We met by fate! Actually, it was very much sheer luck – Jason and I met online back in 2001 while chatting on a forum for our favourite band. The chatting turned into emails which turned into text messages… and we finally decided to bite the bullet and meet up for a movie date in September 2002. The rest was history.”

Today’s photographs are by Follan Photography. I love the team at Follan – they’re so darn friendly and they produce such classically beautiful images – some with a bit of attitude and sass too.

The floral arrangements on the day were styled by Lovely Bridal Blooms. Alynda remarks “Our florist, Jessie from Lovely Bridal Blooms, far exceeded my hopes when it came to the flowers. We spoke entirely online and aside from a few inspiration pictures and a colour scheme, I handed over the reins to our bouquets, centrepieces and boutonnieres – knowing she would make me something spectacular from in season, winter blooms. I couldn’t be more thrilled with how our flowers turned out. They were stunning, and absolutely perfect!”

Alynda’s bouquet has a special nod to her alter ego. “The bee charms sewn on to my bouquet – I’ve been blogging our wedding planning over at Weddingbee as Mrs. Jaguar for the past ten months and wanted to pay tribute. The bee charms are a memento passed from blogger to blogger, and brought a little bit of virtual love with them.”

Even the music choices were traditional and beautiful, Alynda recalls “My bridesmaids and I walked down the aisle to the traditional ‘Canon in D’ performed by a string trio, which echoed beautifully around the church.” The couple married at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with a traditional Catholic service.

Alynda created many of the fun elements of the day herself – including the ribbon wand send off. “I made our programs, our place cards, assembled our table numbers, and had friends DIY our guest scroll & seating chart. I also created the ribbon wands we used for our post-ceremony send off!”

Memories are made of this.. Alynda shares her favourites. “We have so many memories – no wedding day runs smoothly, after all. It just goes to show that no matter how much you plan in advance, there’s always room for a little flexibility! I remember Jason practically whispering his wedding vows at the church, he was so nervous. Seeing our awesome bridal party braving the rain and huddled together for warmth under a brolly while the rain poured down around them. Wearing my obnoxiously bright and colourful gumboots. Falling spectacularly off my chair at the beginning of the reception, much to my horror at the time. Jason and I getting our glasses completely tangled up while cutting our wedding cake, and lots and lots of laughter. Having our friends and family get involved in our crazy requests, like waving us off from the church with ribbon wands & going crazy with sparklers at the end of the evening.”

Rain and mud did not deter this bride, who happened to own my favourite gumboots (from Target) on the planet! “The wet weather (which every bride-to-be dreads) ended up making our day special and unique. Thanks to a pair of gumboots, a bridal brolly and a very wet dress, we ended up having some beautiful shots taken and lots of memories made.”

The guest were given a special favor “Our favours for the evening were a pink ribbon pin for each guest. We made a donation in lieu of traditional favours, and chose to honour the National Breast Cancer Foundation as my nan is currently battling breast cancer. Seeing our guests get on board with our chosen charity and wear their pins all evening was a real delight to us.”

Alynda says “Our first dance was a slow waltz to ‘You and Me’ by Lifehouse – the band that brought us together. We also made time for another, private, dance between the two of us, as our guests were preparing for our farewell at the end of the evening. For this dance, we chose ‘I Will Love You’ by Fisher. It was one of the most memorable moments of our wedding!”

These set is simply amazing and lovely. I love the photo where they were both under the umbrella. I also like the photo where the bride lifted her dress to show her colorful boots. Great photos!

    Hi Kaela,

The illustration of us (& our kitty, Oscar) came from an Etsy seller, Nan Lawson. She creates art based off photos of you, and did such an awesome job. :)
