Bec and Michael

We never thought, seven years ago, sitting on the bag racks at school that we’d be in a room with everyone important in our lives, celebrating our engagement. In 2009, we purchased our first home and after rigorous months of saving and breaking into the adult world, I wanted to do something extra special for Michael’s birthday. I had been to America when I was 15 with my Dad and wanted to share all it’s glory with Michael. We started in LA, then Vegas, then we fell in love with San Francsico. We didn’t want to leave but knew that New York was waiting for us. We were most excited to go to New York because we’d be there on Christmas Day – having a white Christmas was new to both of us and something we’d hoped to someday experience.

For the entire trip, I’d never expect what was about to come. On Christmas Eve, Michael and I headed back to our hotel after a massive day of sight-seeing. After some refreshing, we stopped into a cute little Japanese restaurant that we stumbled upon. The rest is almost a blur, it happened so fast. He proposed to me in Central Park, in the freezing cold, in the middle of New York City – an unforgettable memory that we’ll both forever hold close to our hearts. Two days later, we became stuck in a blizzard … We wished too hard for the snow to the point we were almost snowed in to our hotel.

We returned home and began to plan our Engagement Party. We held our function at The Point Restaurant & Bar, Southbank, Brisbane with 80 of our close friends and family. My brother’s best friend kindly accepted our request for him to take our photos. Such a young and talented photographer that we’ll be forever grateful to. We stuck to a classic theme of Black, White & Red, with a classic Ivory cake with a jumbo red bow on it and for fun, provided lips and moustaches on a stick. They definitely got the party started and were really entertaining for the guests! We felt our Engagement Party really reflected our style and personalities.

We have set our Wedding Date for the 5th of August 2012, which will mark our 8 year anniversary with one another. We will be married in San Francisco, being our most loved city.

Ms Gingham says: New York, New York! I’ve heard it’s amazing … imagine getting engaged there and having those memories too!! Just a little envious.

Bec says: “I am creative, talkative & in love with life everyday. I have a small blog: daisytoast, on wordpress, however hardly have the time in my busy life to use it!! I have been with the man of my dreams since we met in Highschool & am getting married in San Fran, California, next August, on our 8 year anniversary.”
