Beauty For The Wedding Day Morning

So they say less is more and they are definitely right when it comes to preparing the skin on the day of an important occasion. Apply too many products onto your skin and your makeup will slide off quicker than you can say, ‘I do’. Having said that, don’t resist using some of the gorgeous products that are out there!
On the eve of your wedding day – To ensure your skin is supple and hydrated (this will definitely show on camera) ensure you pop on a hydrating mask the night before, as mentioned in my previous post. If you have super dry skin, leave it on longer than usual and rub in any of the excess when the time’s up.
On the morning of your wedding day – Do your usual skincare regime in the morning. Then, apply a primer OR a moisturiser before makeup, (I go for a primer) – I don’t recommend you use both. From experience, only one is needed to create a perfect base for your foundation and remember: you have used your mask the night before so your skin is gorgeous and hydrated.
Makeup
It’s all about how you apply a product, not how much. Yes black eye liner is appropriate for a bride, yes black eye shadow can also be appropriate – if applied correctly. Don’t shy away from all the gorgeous products that are out there because the don’t seem “bride-y”, just be wary of your application. Some things to remember are:
- After applying eye makeup, apply concealer under the eyes. I prefer to apply it afterwards, as the drop-down from your shadow is easier to remove, making it look cleaner and I find I use less concealer this way.
- Apply a foundation with no SPF or titanium dioxide. The flash will capture this, and can make your face appear up to 5 times lighter in photos. Professional photographers can fix this, but it will show up on all the snaps on every other camera. Touch up any blemishes or imperfections with a good concealer and powder to finish.
- I definitely recommend investing in a makeup fixing spray, which will finish off your makeup and ensure it stays put all day, especially if it’s a warm day. It just means you won’t have to worry or touch up as often. They are honestly a god-send!
Katerina’s Tip: If you have particularly oily skin, or you find your makeup tends to slide off your face, use a finishing spray after you apply foundation and then again after you have applied your blush and/or bronzer on top. This ensures everything will stay in place and that your cheek colour comes up perfectly. My personal choice in finishing spray is the ModelCo Beauty Fix. It’s a silver compact that can fit easily into a bridesmaid’s clutch!
