Carly and Jeff
Can you think of anything better of a Saturday afternoon than a …paint fight? Nope, me neither! Luckily we have this paint shoot engagement shoot from Lakshal Perera to take a virtual paint fight journey with! Our bride, Carly says “I love anything different and had the idea of a paint fight for quite some time. When our photographer Lakshal Perera suggested the same thing, I was ecstatic and very happy that I’d found a photographer with similar (and crazy) creative visions! Initially we had planned to do the shoot in an urban setting but upon realising that we would probably get arrested, we opted for a beautiful property just outside of Brisbane.
A couple of buckets of water and handfuls of paint later, we had an amazing collection of photos to celebrate our engagement. We drove home cold, very bright and smiling
”
Carly says “We met at a ski resort in the Canadian Rockies, just outside the beautiful town of Banff. I was doing the typical Aussie thing of working behind a bar and Jeff came to the mountain to snowboard with a friend. The weather wasn’t great so the guys came inside to have a few drinks…and meet his future wife! I then kept them at the bar for so long that they missed the last gondola down to the carpark so I’m pretty sure they had a tipsy snowboard back down at the end of the day…oops”
“I must admit I didn’t know he was ‘the one’ at first. Past relationships had me quite cautious so it built over time. I do remember a significant point where I was just overwhelmed with emotion and felt very lucky to have found him. We were holidaying in the Australian Outback with my brother (who has Autism). The genuine bonding, love and trust I saw between my partner and brother was very special to witness, I knew I had found an extremely special and genuine person and it only made me fall even more in love with him.”
“Jeff knew I would be suspicious if he planned anything out of the blue so he sprung it on me at home one night before we went out for dinner. He proposed with a dress ring I had on layby, then we went out for dinner at one of my favourite restaurants. We had to wait until midnight to call the relatives in Canada so that everyone heard the news at once, so it was a secret for a few hours. The next day he took me into the city to find ‘the ring’ and it’s AMAZING!”
