Erin and Robert

I kind of fell in love with this beautiful celebration. Erin and Robert held their casual wedding with a vintage vibe in Brisbane. I love intimate weddings and I especially love when it’s so evident that the couple did it their way.

Erin recalls how she met Robert. “He is Dutch and we met through my flatmate who invited him over for dinner while he was on his ‘rite of passage’ backpacking Oz stint. The first thing I said to him was, ‘I love you’ jokingly in Dutch, as that was the only sentence I knew in the language. The rest, they say, is history.”

Photographs today are by Becplusfo. I love the simple intimacy of today’s shots. They’re incredibly beautiful and capture the quiet, stillness that Erin  and Robert’s wedding day possessed.

Erin designed her gown herself and had it made by a local dressmaker. Special gifts came in the form of jewels from bridesmaids, recalls Erin “One of the bridesmaid’s, before the ceremony gave me something borrowed – her pearls; something new; something old and something blue, which was a really special moment.” To compliment her gown, Erin accessorised with a raw emerald neck piece and chandelier earrings, and a vintage silver sequined clutch.

Erin and Robert’s daughter, was of course, the flowergirl.

Erin drew inspiration from sentimental jewels. “The whole feel of the wedding, particularly the colour themes was centred on the jewellery which my husband had given me years before to wear to our wedding. The colours of muted leaf green and muted peach worked well with the garden setting, as did the floral bridesmaid dresses, worn by two girls who are flowers in my life. I wanted it to feel light, pretty, simple and joyful.” Green and Bloom styled the floral arrangements.

Erin walked down the aisle to “Real Love” by John Lennon.

Erin remarks ” Our celebrant, Lizzy Cox was fabulous; fun and very helpful and joyful.”

The groom and groomsmen wore suits that were “anything but black”. Erin’s bridesmaids wore gowns from Alannah Hill and Leona Edmiston. Erin says “The directive was florals, in whatever dress they wished.”

Of their photographer, Erin says “She rocked. We wanted something fun and a little quirky, as well as more classic pictures that captured the vintage feel we were aiming for. She asked if we’d mind if the bridal party perhaps wore animal masks for part of the shoot. Awesome! Possibly the only time a bridesmaid has ended the day with ‘owl’ hair. But she did a great job of candidly capturing some very special moments from the day too.

The celebration continued at Bretts Wharf “They were fantastic, couldn’t recommend the folks at Bretts Wharf more, and the location was so pretty. They were very well organised and it looked simple and beautiful. The food was sumptuous.”

The couple ended the night with a very simple sponge from Poppy Cakes and plenty of music which Erin says “was provided by my rocking uncle and cousin. Bit of Elvis, bit of Madness, bit of Regina Spektor.”

Congratulations Erin and Robert! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Becplusfo for sharing today’s photographs!
