I almost can’t believe we are at our very last Vendor Of The Week, our very last Monday morning tradition of 2011. What a year it has been!

Let’s take a breath from Christmas and visit the glorious pages of Ms Polka Dot’s Directory

Every week we’re adding more new vendors to the pages of our directory- from wedding gown designers, to wedding florists, wedding celebrants and event stylists. I really love “meeting” our vendors and they have played such a role in the creative thoughts I’ve had during the year. Each piece, wedding or event they work on becomes a thing of beauty and something I almost lose myself in. They’re a talented bunch our advertisers, so be sure to hire them for your day, because they just “get” it!

Butterfly Philosophy Flowers & Styling is this week’s vendor of the week! Elaine, head floral designer is amazing with colour and design and puts together the most splendid floral arrangements for your wedding day. Elaine is also experienced in event styling so can work with you to create a cohesive look for your day. The simple principles of Butterfly Philosophy? “One can never have too much texture, colour or both! However, on occasion, simple is best. Cute and unusual flowers deserve to be shown off. Use at every available opportunity! Love is in the details. And most importantly, if it doesn’t make our client smile, we haven’t done our job!”

We asked Elaine from Butterfly Philosophy Flowers & Styling five questions in five minutes.

What is your favourite after five drink?

A glass of sav blanc.

Your favourite weekend getaway?

I love heading to Berry on the NSW South Coast – there are great little shops and cafes around to keep us amused, and some cosy cottages to stay in. Always such a relaxing weekend, and so great for recharging the soul.

Favourite restaurant?

Libiamo in Pyrmont is our local Italian spot and it is delish. I love cheap authentic Asian eats too – like Din Tai Fung’s dumplings, or Mamak’s roti, or Ryo’s ramen….we are so spoilt for choice in Sydney!

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?

I love lazy (and indulgent!) Sunday brunches – corn fritters or eggs benedict mmmm!

Your favourite wedding story?

My favourite story is that of my grandparents because their wedding day was the start of the longest and loveliest marriage that I know of. All these years later, they walk everywhere hand in hand and grandpa still tells everyone that he married a truly wonderful woman (aww!). Last year we celebrated their 60th anniversary with a big party of family and friends. To look around and realise that we were all brought together out of my grandparent’s love for each other was something really special. Look at this photo of them (taken on my wedding day earlier this year)… may we all be so lucky to find someone that makes us smile like this, even after 61 years!
