What nicer way to end off a Friday than with some gorgeous inspiration for your wedding centrepieces? Alicia of Form over Function recently styled the tables for the Centennial Parklands Dining open night and kindly shared the photographs (by Evoke Photography) with us as well as her thoughts behind her styling!

Table One? Organic Garden! Alicia says “It’s impossible not to be inspired by what grows all around when working at this venue. For this natural, chic and organic take on wedding styling, we covered the table in a pale avocado Irish linen overlay from our hire range, and created an eclectic and fresh look with the use of a green glass candleholder with large half sphere candle (also works wonderfully as a vase), a sweet white ceramic pot with leaf detail filled with a mass of end of season kale, a taller white ceramic self stripe pot vase filled with an arrangement of goddess lilies, lotus pods and hellebore foliage and one of our pin hole ceramic votives adding an beautiful organic touch.”

“Dipping into the “Bodhi” line from our online stationery store, we tied name tags to hosta leaves with string at each place setting as a twist on traditional place cards, and sat a matching menu featuring hand-stitched ribbon detail on a small white easel. To add glow to the setting, small green glass hurricane candleholders were at each setting, picking up on the green glass candleholder at the centre of the table.”

“Deco Chic: Defying the bridal-table-must-be-white dress code, we dressed this traditional bridal table with the modern twist of a striking deco-inspired fabric overlay in hues of aqua, white and charcoal, and placed a centrepiece before each guest featuring etched and cut glass footed vases filled variously with white peonies and rice flower. For a modern twist, we took the delicious frosted aqua glass candlesticks from our hire range and topped them with a pompom of massed white carnations, using them as flower holders instead.

“Candlelight glowed from within cut glass holders, scattered along the front edge of the table, and before each guest, and menus calligraphied with the guest name were at each setting, along with white damask napkins were held by delicately beaded silver napkin rings””

“Secret garden: Nestled as is this venue is within the magnificent grounds of Centennial Parklands, the setting is a natural fit for styling which echoes touches of what lies beyond. For this long table, we combined the richness of chocolate tablecloths, with the warm luxury of a pale camel suede table runner, which played host to a series of delicate, footed wire bird cage stands, each wearing a top knot of dodder vine and baby privet berry, with a rustic lace candleholder glowing within.”

“Before each guest glowed a cream rustic lace votive, and sat a sweet hessian bag vase with string handles filled with an arrangement of hellebore foliage, pale pink peony roses and baby privet berry, doing double duty. Not only did this work by adding floral touches to the table, but as a gift for guests to carry away with them at the end of the night. Cream napkins sat at each place setting, along with a ‘Butterflies” menu/place card from our online stationery range.””

SugarCube set up a decadent lolly buffet in tones of white and beige. Tall cglass containers were filled with sweet treats,

“Peaches and cream: When the flower gods deliver peach David Austen roses in such perfect, spectacular profusion, we believe strongly in just allowing masses of them to do their own beautiful thing. For this romantic, vintage inspired setting we used cream damask linen, with napkins held by mother of pearl napkin rings. ”

“A round mirror sits at the centre of the table to reflect the flowers and the candlelight, and plays host to a footed cream flower stand with a cut crystal glass plate filled with a massed arrangement of David Austen roses, velvety grey dusty miller foliage, and just a touch of springtime jasmine in bloom. Each guest also treated to a small cream lace vase filled with peach David Austen blooms. Wish we could share the scent.”

Summer in the park: evergreen overlays from our linen hire range, add a beautiful sweep of pale green blossom and leaves to the tabletop, masses of frosted glass spheres in a range of sizes line the centre of the table, some aglow  with candlelight, others filled with massed arrangements of sweet chincherincee. Small candleholders in shades of green to white, made from gorgeous recycled glass, are scattered throughout the centrepieces, as well as sitting before each guest”

“And adding a touch of sleek city glamour, white damask napkins are held in place by chocolate leather napkin rings.”

“Sunshine: our inner crafty selves were inspired by the too-cute floral flowers made by a recent bride of ours for her own cocktail wedding bonbonniere: paper bags filled with Turkish delight and bound with a paper wrap finished with a fabric and button flower.”

“Diving into her stash of fabric flowers, we created fabric napkin bands in a range of contrasting yet matching fabrics in all colours sunshine-y, and attached a fabric flower to each. Continuing the all things fabric are wonderful theme, we wrapped a vase in bright yellow linen, added a band of contrast fabric picking up on the napkin bands and attached a series of fabric and button flowers, filling it with a mass of gorgeous sunset orange pincushion proteas. ”

“Before each guest glowed a large amber frosted votive from our hire range.””

“Modern elegance: pairing the deep crimson to hot pink blush and of coral peonies and gloriosa lily with a sleek white milk glass vase, a  beautiful white ceramic underplatter with fine line detail, a matching sake bottle vase filled with gloriosa lily and sake cup candle holders from our range, makes for a striking and elegant setting”

“By covering tables in exquisite ink blue silken overlays with pleat detail, echoing the fine line detail on the vases, candleholder and centrepiece display plate, and adding square silver napkin rings to the napkins, the tables gain the feel of elegant and intimate dinner party, no matter how many tables you need to dress at your venue.  Featuring the whimsical yet elegant ‘Dandelion stationery from our online stationery store.”

“A Clear Romance: The drama of this setting is all in the use of a trio of sleek, conical glass candlesticks in three varying heights, sitting alongside  a conical vase filled with a puff ball arrangement of baby’s breath, punctuating the elegant continuous mirror table runner we placed down the centre of this white damask linen covered tables.Candlelight glowed from within cut glass holders, scattered along the front edge of the table, and before each guest, and menus calligraphied with the guest name were at each setting, along with white damask napkins were held by delicately beaded silver napkin rings”

“Scattering a mass of small clear glass tealight holders the length of the table amped up the sparkle and the glow: deceptively simple. Our modern take on the all white wedding.”
