Sarah and Brendan

Retro and Noosa Wedding aren’t usually words you might hear in the one sentence, but Sarah and Brendan managed to incorporate their passion into their wedding day with a rockabilly beach style wedding.

Sarah tells the story of how she and Brendan came to be. “We were part of a group of friends that would go out to rockabilly gigs in London. The romantic spark started at the Rockabilly Rave (rockin festival in the UK) and two and a half years later we were engaged on a steam train in country side England. Very romantic! Being from Australia, we had to have the wedding back in Oz and it had to be on the beach!! But we also had a celebration back in London too – so we had the best of the beach and the city.”

Photos today are by Lindy Photography– they’re fresh, fun and colourful and just a little bit sparkly!

Sarah wore bright red shoes by Robert Robert and chose a Maggie Sottero V neck gown.

Sarah and her bridesmaids went for a retro inspired look for their hair and makeup with hair styled by Paul Michael of Oxygen Hair Adelaide and makeup by Makeup By Jana. Sarah remarks “Jana did a sensational job on everyone’s makeup. It was exactly the right vintage style for me – no-one has ever done my cat’s eyes so perfectly!! :0) And the girl’s make up was just perfect for them. My wonderful cousin Paul Michael did the most fantastic hairstyles. Each of girl’s style reflected their personality. It was brilliant! As for mine, it was perfect! Paul Michael created the style from nothing and it came out like a 30’s filmstar, I loved it so much I replicated it in London! Best of all, it was a style that my Grandma used to wear many years ago.”

Sarah and Brendan chose Hidden Grove, Main Beach for their wedding ceremony. Sarah walked down the aisle to The “Hawaiian Wedding Song” by Elvis Presley.

Sarah remarks “Hidden Grove was a wonderful location to have your ceremony on the beach, but in private. It’s an intimate time and privacy was important, whilst still enjoying the best background you can have – the beach.” The couple were married by Stephanie Neil.

Sarah’s bridemaids wore gowns from After Six by The Dessy Group in a print called” Nantucket”. The floral arrangements were designed by Blooms of Noosa. Sarah recalls “I don’t think I have come to know anyone so lovely, patient, understanding and so dedicated as Rebecca of Blooms Of Noosa!”

Of their photographer, Sarah remarks ” Our photographer Lindy was amazing!! She has taken some beautiful pictures and allowed us just to be ourselves and have fun with the photos. I think that is definitely reflected in the photos – we look really happy!! ”

Sarah says ” My husband made the day so special, he was so handsome and loving on the day. His speech was very romantic, with some very personal touches of humour that had everyone in stitches. He was just the best that day and it was clear to see why I had said yes! ” Brendan wore a suit from TM Lewin, UK.

Sarah and Brendan held their wedding reception at The Waterfront Restaurant. Sarah decorated the reception with fun, retro details. She explains “Whilst we wanted a 50’s theme we didn’t want it to be cringy with neon signs, poodle skirts and records everywhere. Whilst we are rockin’, and love all things vintage, we wanted to keep it elegant and not risk looking retro overload!”

The lolly buffet had an English twist as a nod to Sarah and Brendan’s time spent in England. The wedding cake was made by Sarah’s stepmother.

Sarah hired a wedding planner to help her design and decorate the day. She explains “I did a lot myself, with the help of Sugar & Spice Events. We personalised things like name tags and the table plan, so it was meaningful to us. The tables were named after the dogs we have had over the years, so rather than using table numbers we had photos of the doggies. I think it was a nice touch.” Guests received favors from Confiserie Blomme NV, Belgium.

The couple jived to “I’m Coming Home” by Elvis Presley for their first dance. Sarah says “All I can say it is was more amazing, happy, romantic, sensational, fantastic and fun than I ever, ever, ever expected. We laughed and danced the night away. ”

Congratulations Sarah and Brendan! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Lindy Photography for sharing today’s photographs!
