Jeanne & Immanuel

When Leisa of White Fluffy Cloud Photography sent over this engagement shoot I was in love with the golden, green beauty of the light and the sheer joy and happiness on Jeanne and Immanuel’s faces. It’s always the happiness that gets me, though the beauty of the backdrop certainly helped!

Immanuel tells their story. “Jeanne and I have attended the same school since year 4. Only in year 8 did we start to notice each other, although that mostly consisted of me annoying her and chasing her around the school. We started to develop a relationship in the later part of year 11 involving late night phone calls that would last till the early hours of the morning, glances and subtle smiles in the hallways at school. I knew that I liked her since we started chasing, mocking and teasing one another in the early years of high school. I’m pretty sure she did too. Finally after graduation we started dating and it has been a interesting and fulfilling journey that I hope will continue for the rest of our lives.”

“I proposed on our fourth anniversary. I took her to lunch at one of her favourite restaurants at Woolloomooloo, then we made our way back to the hotel room I hired for that night. I told her to get ready because I was taking her out for dinner. When she was in the shower I told her to meet me down stairs. I left the room and took a taxi to Darling Island Wharf. I organised a car to pick her up at the hotel and take her to meet me there. When her car arrived, the driver escorted her down the wharf where I was waiting for her on a yacht.”

“She boarded and we began sailing around Sydney Harbour. With the sun setting in the background we anchored in a bay in front of Taronga Zoo and the staff brought out a variety of delicious canapes for dinner. As we were eating, ‘At Last’ by Etta James came on over the sound system so I grabbed her hand and we started to dance on the stern. When the song finished I attempted to tell her how much I love her, I’m pretty sure I was stuttering the entire time.”

“I eventually got it together and got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. I had to say it twice because she thought I was joking but when she realised it was for real she said, “Hell Yes!” ”
