Kate & Brad

Autumn is my favourite time of year (along with winter, I adore the cold!) so this gorgeous engagement Canberra session from Beata English seems just the right way to spend a wintery Saturday!

Kate tells their story. “Brad and I met nearly 5 years ago at a music festival in Canberra. We had several mutual friends and it was surprising we hadn’t met before. I’m not one for cliche’s like ‘love at first sight’ but from the moment we met something just felt right and we haven’t looked back since!”

“Brad proposed on the 17th December 2011. We had been living and travelling through Europe and we were in Iceland, before making our way to Canada for Christmas.
We awoke to the snow falling in Reykjavic, and with the sun yet to rise, we headed out to the Blue Lagoon. It was -4 degrees, the snow was gently falling and all you could see for miles was white. Then as we enter the Blue Lagoon, with the amazing snow covered ground, is this dazzling blue water, at 40 degrees, and we swim around watching the daylight break through the darkness as the sun slowly starts to rise. And it was in this magical setting, that Brad proposed to me. It was such a special moment and I couldn’t have asked for anything more!”

“Brad and I have so much in common it makes being together so easy and so much fun. We love to travel, cook, drink wine and play/watch sport. We have a house and dog (Asha) who we love to bits and our family and friends are very important to both of us.”

“We had originally thought we would like an autumn (our favourite season) wedding, maybe at a winery, with a fairly rustic feel. But as our wedding plans evolved, we decided we couldn’t want to wait until next year to marry and so we are marrying in October and having a spring time, modern, cocktail wedding! In fact, our wedding date will be 5 years to the exact day and date that Brad and I met! As such, we decided to use the opportunity of our engagement session to incorporate our initial ideas and to capture what is us, and our relationship at its most natural. Our favourite season, one of our favourite local settings, in our own clothes. Our engagement photos really capture who we are and what we love.  Our amazing photographer Beata English was full of great ideas for photos and made us both feel so comfortable in front of the camera. We are now so excited for our wedding and what amazing moments she will capture!”
