Mary & Tim

Australian country weddings always have such an easy elegance to them. Mary’s simple beautiful lace wedding gown is accessorised with white blooms and the golden grasses provide the most beautiful backdrop for their celebrations.

Mary tells their story. “We met on a Friday night, at after work drinks at Old Parliament House in Canberra. Tim approached me, bought me  a champagne after my  initial hesitation, and later asked me out on our first date.”

Images are by Arron Hage who has captured the rustic, country feel of the day.

Mary wore a gown by Catherine Deane for BHLDN and added an heirloom diamond pendant borrowed from Tim’s family and earrings by Samantha Wills.

Mary’s bridesmaids wore Quillaree Marchioness dress for BHLDN.

Mary walked down the aisle to a solo cellist playing Bach cello suite number one, Prelude.

Mary and Tim married in the gardens of Grazing Restaurant and held their reception in the restaurant itself. Mary explains “We chose Grazing Restaurant in Gundaroo because we had visited it for dinner a few times, and loved the food! I initially wanted to get married on my parents’ farm, which is a four-hour drive out of Adelaide. Tim wanted to get married in the city, as his entire family lives interstate and overseas and he wanted to minimise travel time. As Tim ended up proposing to me on her parents’ farm (which is another entire story), we decided that Grazing (with its vegetable garden, country-town setting, beautiful food and only 30 minutes out of Canberra) was the perfect choice. The staff were friendly, accommodating and very organised; making the day run super smoothly.”

Of their photographer, Mary says “Arron Hage did an amazing job capturing the special moments of the day. We didn’t want photos that were too ‘set-up’, and that suited Arron’s style perfectly, who works professionally at Parliament House when he’s not doing weddings. He was professional, easy to work with and we could not have asked for a better experience. We flip through our photos regularly and are reminded of a special day, with each photo a work of art in its own right. He also surprised us by sending a canvas print in the post of his favourite pic, which we will hang on the wall of our new house.”

Mary describes the wedding as “A relaxed, fun and country-style wedding with home-made touches.”

For their favors, individual jams were made Mary’s mother. Mary remarks “The jams were apricot and plum and were also used as place tags for the guests, with each guest’s name written on a tag attached to the jar.” Mary’s mother also put together the wedding bouquets and reception floral arrangements.

For their first dance, the couple chose Darren Hanlon’s cover of ‘Together in Electric Dreams’ by the Human League. Mary explains “Tim loves 80s music, and I love Darren Hanlon, so it was a perfect mix. As for the dancing, we practiced with each other once privately in our lounge room!”

Congratulations Mary & Tim! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Arron Hage for sharing your images with us!
