Lara & Sab

The casual delight of today’s wedding has us feeling bubbly. The couple chose a headland just near their home for their wedding, which they planned in two months so they could celebrate with their Australian friends before heading back to their UK home. It’s like a big dinner party, following a bit of sparkle and champagne toasts and of course, a marriage ceremony.

Lara tells their story. “In early 2007 I went traveling round the world, stopping off in Sydney for 3 months. A mutual friend suggested I should meet Sab and after that I never left. Then five years and a baby later we got married!”

Photos today are by Milton Gan who captures the relaxed, celebratory mood beautifully.

Lara explains, “As we’re both from the UK we were planning a wedding in England in August but decided to be legally wed in Australia in an additional ceremony so that we could include all our close friends in Sydney. We only had 8 weeks to plan it which meant that we really had to get on with it and make quick decisions. But it all came together easily and we loved every minute! I have a stationery company called La Rara so I made the invitations.”

Maggie May  created the bouquet and buttonhole.

Lara chose a dress from Alannah Hill with shoes from Gorman.

The couple chose the Bondi headland Ben Buckler for their wedding. Lara explains, “We took a gamble with the weather and held the wedding outside, about a minute’s walk from our house where we had lived for the last 4 years. We couldn’t have been luckier – after a week of rain we had bright blue skies and a beautiful sunset!”

The couple walked down the aisle together to ‘All I Want is You’ by Barry Louis Polisar. Lara says “Walking round the headland together with our son and seeing all our friends gathered was a moment I’ll never forget!”

Lara remembers, ” Our friends – being surrounded by our best friends made it feel very intimate and special. We had 30 people which meant that we could talk to everyone and it didn’t feel too big.”

Lara remembers, “The weather – it was the brightest, blue sky day we could have hoped for and the most incredible orange sunset. We couldn’t have hoped for better and it gave the whole day a beautiful backdrop.”

Of their photographer, Lara says “We are very lucky to be friends with Milton Gan! And we are very lucky that he happened to be available on the day with only a couple of months notice. We love the photos so much and every detail has been captured so beautifully.”

Guests celebrated on the headland with champagne and Ghermez Cupcakes.

After the ceremony the newlyweds and their guests walked to Chapter One to celebrate. Lara explains, “It’s such a gorgeous little cafe/wine bar.”

Of what made the day special, Lara says,  ” Teamwork – we delegated a lot of jobs to our friends so it felt like everyone was involved and had a role from collecting cakes, bringing music, opening the champagne – everyone was very kind!”

Congratulations Lara and Sab! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you to Milton Gan  for sharing today’s wedding.
