Louise and Lee

A wedding making the most of Sydney Harbour always tickles my fancy- so many beautiful backdrops for such special days and Louise and Lee made sure to include as much of the harbour as possible in their beautiful waterside celebration.

Louise kicks off with the story of how she and Lee met. “Lee and I first met at a Sydney AFL game, which we went to with my old housemate, who Lee went to University with. I should note that we are all from England so we didn’t really get the game! I then started working at the same company as Lee and as I knew him we got chatting at a work function – Oktoberfest, at The Lowenbrau in The Rocks. A few steins, a few dates and 4.5 years later, we were married!!”

Louise carried a bouquet of berry colour hyacinths, blue green hydrangeas, large purple vanda orchids and green midori antheriums created by Floral Craftsman – Matt Bisaro. Louise chose an elegant gown from Rhonda Hemmingway Couture.

Louise and Lee were married at Clarkes Point Reserve, and Louise chose ‘Viva La Vida’ by Coldplay for her walk down the aisle.

Louise recalls, “The posies on the chairs down the aisle, the arrangements on the table and the little watering can favours all had herbs in them – rosemary, parsley and mint. Every time someone brushed past them they gave off the most wonderful aroma.”

Of their venue choices, Louise remembers “We first went to The Deckhouse for a wine club function. When Lee proposed and we thought about receptions venues, it was first in our thoughts – such a wonderful view back down the harbour plus the food and the staff were fantastic. When we went to see if they could fit us in, they mentioned Clarkes Point Reserve as a regular spot for weddings, again because of the lovely view and its setting in the harbour. They also mentioned Rosman ferries as a ferry between venues or simply a cruise up and down the harbour. We were sold! What better way to show Sydney off to our overseas guests.”

Of their photographers, Louise says, “Milk & Honey were just perfect at capturing relaxed, candid moments of our special day.”

Louise says “We had planned for the rain, we had planned for the cold – we had not planned for a 25 degree day in the middle of May and keeping people cool! It did make for the most amazing sunset on the ferry trip and woodland photos though. It had rained so much before that everything was lush and green.”

For their first dance, Louise recalls, “I didn’t know what the first dance would be to – no one knew, only Lee. It was ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ by Van Morrison. My Mum had not cried until this point – the tears came rolling down!”
