Jax and Julie

I am a creative person by nature. Jax hasn’t got a clue about design or photography or blogging (all of which I love). But we do have something similar that glue us together. Both Jaques and I love to have fun. Funny faces. Laughing at each other’s jokes. Endless selfies (taking self-photographs). Whatever it is, we can count on each other to be silly. And we love that.

So when we were planning our engagement shoot with the amazing UK wedding photographer Shell de Mar (well, to me, she’s also my amazing sister and matron of honour), we knew we had to bring our own flavour into the photos.

First up, we went to an abandoned brick factory in Box Hill. It was an amazing experience and we loved the urban feel. Then we went up to the mountains… Sassafras, Mount Dandenong. This is one of our favourite spots and we have made day trips for various anniversaries and birthdays. We knew exactly where to shoot the pics because, hey, we’ve done the research! Before the day turns dark, we stopped by at Abbotsford, next to the convent, for a quick photoshoot next to an old building. A whole lot of fun. A whole lot of colours. And a whole lot of laughters. Just the way we like it.

Our props were simple. One big huge yellow balloon. A lollipop (in which Julie then used as her wedding bouquet). And our biggest smiles.

As you can tell, I am definitely a polkadot bride – I wore two polkadot outfits for the shoot! Oh and I also wore the green polkadot dress when I was the maid of honour for my sister’s wedding (yes, the photographer).

We loved every moment of the engagement photo session and we hope that your readers will also love it just as much! 🙂

Julie says: “I am a fun loving creative person by nature who loves all things pretty and colourful. I love finding a bargain and doing little DIY projects; two very useful traits when planning a wedding.”
