Ask anyone what a groom should wear on his wedding day and they’ll likely say two things: black and white. But, if you’re as bored of plain black ties as I am then you need to meet His Handsome Self.  Started late last year after creative director Rohan Browne struggled to find the perfect bow tie for his wedding; His Handsome Self offers a range of men’s accessories with a difference.

Handmade and based in Melbourne, this quirky new brand features a kaleidoscope of colours and patterns that put all monochromatic men’s accessories to shame. From an eccentric melon and camouflage combo to a classy noir and white mix (as modelled by John at his Backyard Surprise Wedding), there’s a His Handsome Self bow-tie and pocket square set to suit every wedding party.

Aside from the vast range of colours and patterns, what I love most about the line is that each square or tie has a reversible contrast side. So, you can rock yellow on one day and paisley the other! This also gives the option to mix up colours amongst groomsmen (or wear the same tie two days in a row with your wedding guests none the wiser!).

Amidst all this fun is an innate sense of class. All products are made of the finest silk, cotton or linen and there’s no pre-tied bows here. Each unique design is a self-tie, just like Sinatra used to wear.

With their second collection launching on April 2nd, the brand has already received a lot of attention; seen on the likes of Geoffrey Rush and the MORNINGS show’s David Campbell.

So, if you feel like saying goodbye to dull accessories and hello to your most handsome self, I suggest you check out His Handsome Self. Available in-store at Clemente Talarico and One Thousand Cranes. For all you non-Melbournians, fear not! They’re also available online at his handsome self.
