Julia and Luke

Oh I love romance, it’s why I write about weddings all day long after all, and today’s celebration of Julia and Luke is utterly romantic, not to mention utterly beautiful.

Julia tells their story. “Luke and I met casually through mutual friends at a camping trip one New Years Eve. We started dating about a month afterwards. A friend of Luke’s said that from the moment she met me, she knew we would fall for each other – and she was unmistakably right! ”

Luke Chisholm Photography captured today’s images with a quiet beauty and grace to them.

Julia chose a gown from Anna Campbell. She remarks, “From the moment I laid eyes on the beautiful creations of the talented Anna Campbell – I knew there was no other designer for me. The vintage inspired gown with delicate lace detailing and soft romantic touches was from the made to measure collection. I was fortunate enough to have the gown named after me – The Juliet Gown.”

For the processional, Julia explains, “We decided on traditional music for the Church Ceremony. We walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D played by Jo Ellis on the violin – which was simply romantic and emotive.” Julia and Luke chose St Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Corowa for their ceremony.

Of their photographer, Julia says, “Choosing Luke Chisholm Photography to shoot our wedding day was the best decision we made in the lead up to our wedding. We wanted a photographer who would capture our day as it happened rather than orchestrate those special intimate moments. Luke did just that and much more. Luke was with us from start to finish, even capturing our guests boarding the buses at the end of the evening – well after we had left. Luke managed to capture the beauty, raw emotion, intimacy, fun and all of the moments that mattered. Luke was brilliant at telling our wedding story and he managed to capture every bit of our wedding day as it was unveiled.”

Julia remarks, “Our wedding day wasn’t about trying to follow any trends or to impress anyone else but us – we wanted a classic romantic day full of candid emotion, intimacy and above all glorious celebration.”

Julia and Luke held their wedding reception at All Saints Estate in Rutherglen. Julia explaining, “Our wedding reception was held at the impressive All Saints Estate Rutherglen in The Great Hall. All Saints Estate is one of the most spectacular vineyard settings in Australia. The All Saints Estate Castle is architecturally magnificent and the stunning grounds in addition to the Elm Trees which line the driveway are just breathtakingly exquisite.”

The two cutest flower girls were dressed in frocks from Tea Princess with hair bands by Summerblossom.

For the wedding cake, Julia tells, “We decided against a traditional wedding cake. Instead my talented mother made a Chocolate Guinness Cake, an old family recipe – decorated simply with white mini roses. Each guest was given a jar of mango chutney that was also handmade with love by my mother, in the lead up to the wedding.”

“We wanted a relaxed, rustic feel for our celebration, with our most important objective to enjoy the company of our closest family and friends. We organised trestle tables to create an intimate familial vibe for our guests. The tables were lined with an assortment of vintage cut glass vases, jars and bottles filled with hydrangea, baby’s breath and white icebreaker roses. We didn’t want all of the beautiful flowers to go to waste, so we organised a wrapping station so guests could take home the abundance of floral prettiness that adorned the room. We also had some vintage medicine jars that we asked our guests to leave a note in, with some useful wedding advice to guide us through our marriage. We look forward to opening these jars on our wedding anniversaries.”

Julia remembers, “The most breathtaking and unforgettable part of the evening was the completely raw and emotional speech given by my new husband. It was filled with such integrity, happiness, gratitude and above all love – he had the entire room choking back tears. This single moment was what the day was all about – I felt so honoured to finally call him my husband.”

For their first dance, Julia recalls, “After much deliberation we finally decided on Fleetwood Mac‘s ‘Songbird’ to be played live by The White Tree for our first dance. The classic romantic song with beautiful lyrics ensured all our guests joined us on the dance floor to enjoy our first dance as husband and wife.”

Congratulations Julia and Luke on your marriage! Thank you for sharing you wedding day with us! Thank you also to Luke Chisholm Photography for sharing today’s wedding with us!
