We really do love hearing from Grooms here at Polka Dot Central, which is why we have devised a fantastic new series that focuses on the wedding professionals who have been Grooms themselves! We’ve asked the best of the best to share their memories and advice from their own day, and who would turn down sharing a (virtual) glass of whisky with these generous men!
To kick off our series, we walk down memory lane with Chris, one part of the talented team (alongside his wife Gina) that make up the award-winning Blue Print Photography. With a flair for capturing the intimate moments of their clients’ wedding day, it’s lovely to hear what moments from his own nuptials have stayed with Chris over the last 12 years!
Tell us about your Wedding!
Rewind to May 5th 2001. Back in the days where weddings were shot on medium format film and prints developed in a darkroom. Mesmerised by the elegance of our parent’s wedding photos from the 1950’s and being photographers ourselves, Gina and I decided to have a classical wedding with our ceremony at Greek Orthodox Church in South Melbourne and reception at the historic Ascot House.
What was your most memorable moment (or moments!)
Our first dance. We chose a Gypsy Kings song, Volare, that started off really slow to give the illusion that we were doing a classic bridal waltz. Then it exploded into its high octane Latino groove, where Gina and I assumed our Cha Cha positions, and broke out into the routine that we had 6 dance lessons for. Did we forget the routine half way through, yes, did the CD skip, yes, did we care, no, as the mood was set for the rest of the night. NO ONE ELSE knew about our Cha Cha routine which took the room by storm with everyone dancing like fools well before the entrée was served.
If you could change one thing, what would it be?
Maybe the pigeon who pooed on my neck, and missed my suit, when I walked out of the church. They say a bird pooing on you is good luck and I have been blessed with Gina and our two kids ever since that day.
Did you have a favorite vendor?
Ascot House as the service and food was amazing.
What advice would you have for other men when planning their wedding?
Just get involved with the planning and leave your mark as a couple with your guests. We still have people commenting on that Cha Cha after 12 years.

I love that you were both focused on the day and the reasons for it, not all the little things (even if one of them was getting pooed on!). Congratulations on 12 wonderful years.
