Mavis’ Kitchen, Mt Warning

Just got engaged? Awesome! Congratulations! Now it’s time to book yourself a date with destiny and find that perfect venue to hold your ceremony. Who knows, it may even be great for your reception too. Here’s 5 Gold Coast wedding venues you may not have thought of….

1. North Burleigh Beach – love the feel of sand between your toes and the sea breeze gently blowing in your hair? Then maybe a beach wedding is for you! North Burleigh Beach is a great spot for a wedding. You can hold your ceremony down on the beach or climb the grassy knoll (minus gunman) and get married on the platform overlooking the coast, with views both north to Main Beach and south to Coolangatta. Beware, though, summer storms can make this type of ceremony a little wet and breezy, but hey, what’s a wedding without the crazy Qld weather?

2. O’Reilly’s Moonlight Crag – This amazing place is without doubt the most spectacular and beautiful place I have ever had the pleasure of shooting a wedding. A wooden deck overlooking dense forest of the Lost World and gorgeous valley below, Moonlight Crag in simply stunning. It can accommodate up to 120 guests and O’Reilly’s can deliver catering out to the crag for you to enjoy post ceremony. While it is an adventure (a fun 4WD one) to get there from the guest accommodation (the mountain villas are also amazing), it is well worth it! Contact O’Reilly’s website for more information.

3. Coolibah Downs Chapel – Like the look and feel of old school church architecture but can’t afford the flight to London? Well, you can compromise and get married at Coolibah Downs Chapel. It’s a quaint little (well, not so little, it holds over 100 people) stone chapel that turns on the charm as soon as you arrive. The good news is, Coolibah also have many great spots for photos and also have a Reception venue and limited guest accommodation in the homestead. Take a look at the Coolibah Downs website here.

4. The Panorama, Tallai -Thinking of just hiring a property for your shindig? Well, look no further because this place is the BOMB! With stunning views, beautiful gardens and a stunningly decked out home complete with chef’s kitchen, huge deck area and (for the kiddies) a theatre room to die for, you will not be disappointed. Oh, and did I mention the light in this place is like catnip for photographers? AMA-ZING! You can have the whole shebang here, and party afterwards with your guests. Sound like a good idea? Check it out here!

5. Mavis’ Kitchen, Mt Warning – Wowsers, what a place to get married! Stunning views, delicious food and good-old-fashioned-hospitality is what the boys who own Mavis’ are all about. The property sits near the base of Mt Warning just over the border in Northern NSW and is a secluded, green, paradise of lush gardens, lovely streams and a grand old Queenslander home which was re-located to it’s final resting place on the property. You can have the entire wedding here, and why not? The grounds are lovely, and there is plenty of accommodation for both before and after the ceremony (even a secluded cabin for the Bride to hide away in the night before). Did I mention the food is to DIE for? The boys will even bake your wedding cake for you. How cool is that? Contact the lovely Peter and Charlie here.

So there you have it. Plenty of places to choose from. Now, do we want a garden or church wedding…..

Ms Gingham says: Some fantastic choices here!
