Emma & Lee

Emma and Lee’s relaxed Sydney wedding captured by Kristy Toepfer was all about throwing out tradition and enjoying each other, the day and the celebration. Reading and enjoying how each couple chooses to celebrate their wedding day in their own very special way is a treat.

Emma tells the story of how they met. “We met through my housemate who was good friends with Lee! No doubt he’s one of our faves!”

Emma chose a gown by Johanna Johnson. she remembers  “I loved my gown! All the girls in the Paddington store were amazing!”

Emma chose a simply up do with crystal clip for her wedding day look. She says. “My close friend Tanya @ Chic Artistry did our hair and makeup!”

Emma and Lee met before the ceremony for photographs.

Instead of a traditional all male and all female bridal party, Emma chose to have one bridesmaid and one bridesman! Emma loved it, recalling, “I loved having my best male friend as my Bridesman! I couldn’t imagine not having him with me!”

Emma and Lee chose Kombi vans from Kombi Celebrations for their wedding transport. “The best people with the best cars. I love them to bits! ”

Of their photographer, Emma tells, “We found her online and loved her candid style. She had done a few shoots that really caught our attention. When we met we just loved her vibe… calm and relaxed, yet organised and professional. On the day she was amazing… caught everything that we explained was important to us but also directed when she spotted a perfect moment to capture!”

“The best decision we made was to have our photos taken before the ceremony. Lee and I still had a special moment when he saw me for the first time but then we were so relaxed and really got to enjoy our day together.

We also got to spend more time with our guests after the ceremony and before the reception! We also got Lee and his groomsmen to bring their skateboards along. They’re avid skaters and it was just another personal touch we wanted to include.”

Emma and her bridesmaid carried brooch bouquets.

Emma and Lee married at Rose Garden, Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney. “The Rose Garden and Pavilion was picture perfect. We wanted an outdoor venue, but still in the city and also with a wet weather alternative. The natural flora on the grounds made the most beautiful backdrop for our ceremony.”

Emma walked down the aisle to “Oh Oh I Love Her So by Rancid. It’s originally a Ramones song!”

Emma and Lee were married by Jessie Cacchillo, Emma noting, “Making our day all about us and not about tradition.”

Cafe Morso, Pyrmont hosted the cocktail reception, Emma remarking, “Cafe Morso was a hit for us as it is in a great location on the water, catered perfectly for our cocktail reception, has a stunning ambiance and the food and staff are just spectacular. I couldn’t recommend Cafe Morso enough.”

Mezzapicca Leichhardt created a three tier chocolate cake.

Emma made the favors, telling, ” I made our bombonierres. They were small glass jars with cork lids, wrapped in twine, with personalised E & L stickers… filled with vodka. They were a hit – hehe!”

There was no first dance, the couple instead choosing to join guests on the dancefloor and dance the night away.

Congratulations on your marriage Emma and Lee! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding! Thank you to Kristy Toepfer for sharing today’s images with us!
