Phoebe and Matt

I really love these romantic Byron Bay engagement photos from photographer Quince & Mulberry Studios at the The Atlantic Byron Bay. There is a blissfulness in the air when it comes to Byron Bay and Phoebe and Matt’s story as it unfolded through the photos is utterly romantic.

Kicking off the story with how they met, the couple tell, “A work colleague and mutual friend first introduced Phoebe to Matt at a birthday celebration, and Phoebe says, “they felt an instant connection to each other.” Over time their friendship grew and eventually it was their common interest in music that led to Matt asking Phoebe out on their first official date at a Big Day Out concert.”

Photographer Kate of Quince & Mulberry Studiostells, “When planning Phoebe and Matt’s engagement photographs I remember how Phoebe first spoke about a Byron Bay Beach Wedding. Down the track and through the course of planning their day, it just wasn’t going to fit, so I then suggested that we head down there for their engagement shoot. We utilised both the beach and the surrounding National Park areas. We all decided to make a weekend away out of it, and the place of our lodging, The Atlantic Byron Bay, offered a fantastic backdrop for our photographs too!”

“Phoebe loves Matt’s genuine and kind heart, his fantastic sense of humour and his great dance moves.”

The proposal story goes a little something like this. “Phoebe tells that she had convinced herself that Matt was going to propose atop a Balinese volcano at dawn whilst on holiday together. She woke up at 3am to straighten her hair, apply makeup and choose a nice ‘engagement outfit’. They climbed the volcano, which took 2 hours, and at the summit, as the sun rose, Matt flippantly told her how he had ‘thought about proposing’ but ‘decided against it’. To this day they both laugh about the ‘botched Bali proposal’.”

“A few months after the ‘botched Bali proposal’, on their way to a charity ball, the two stopped for a ride on the Wheel of Brisbane and it was here that Matt got down on one knee and asked Phoebe to marry him. Of course, she said yes.”

“Matt loves Phoebe’s warm and caring nature, her infectious energy and her amazing brownies.”
