Jennie and David

Jennie and David chose to do away with a lot of traditions for their romantic garden wedding. They met before at a local farm for photographs, skipped the first dance, the getting ready photos and made the day their own. But that’s the best part – because making it their own, their story shines through, and their memories, captured beautifully by Sunny and Sweet Photography.

On how they met, Jennie tells. “We grew up in similar circles, and even attended some of the same parties growing up but never officially met. It wasn’t until on holiday with mutual friends at Jan Jac that we actually took notice of each other for the first time. It took just over a week for us to realise that we had a special spark, but looking back it was pretty obvious from the start.”

Jennie and David met before the ceremony for a first look, Jennie explaining, “We didn’t have a first dance, in fact we didn’t do a lot of traditional wedding rituals. We’re not very traditional! For a start, I proposed to him. We also saw each other before the wedding at our first look photo shoot, we didn’t get announced or introduced to our guests we just sort of rocked up and got married and then chatted with everyone over some great food. I guess we just wanted everyone to feel relaxed…including ourselves! So we tried to make the whole day as informal as possible.”

Fleurty By Nature created the Spring inspired floral arrangements for the wedding day.

The pre-weddng photographs were taken at a local farm, Jennie remembering, “We were  lucky to be able to have a first look photo shoot at Wiggleybottom Farm in Healesville which has the cutest little guest house with breathtaking country views. Their property has a special charm all to itself and I can’t wait to go and stay there again. Next time with our dog Lilly!”

Of their photographer, Jennie says, “Kara from Sunny & Sweet, our photographer, was just so amazing. She understood that I wanted something different from the typical wedding photo shoot and with very little effort on our part she delivered. Everyone felt relaxed having the photos taken and everyone who attended the wedding was captured some way or another. Looking back on the photos just adds to all my memories of all the little moments throughout the day. I love Kara’s style, it’s fabulously modern while still being relaxed and soulful.”

Jennie’s stunning lace gown was made by Fiona Clare (0415 381 720). She notes”My dress was so beautiful it was just amazing to wear. I’m blessed to have it created by the ridiculously talented Fiona Clare. She created a gown that perfectly reflected how I wanted to feel on the day. Her attention to detail made all the difference and the little touches on the inside and out made my gown a joy to wear.”

Jennie walked down the aisle to Compass by Jamie Lidell.

Jennie and David held their ceremony and reception at Kellybrook Winery. Jennie remarking “Everyone commented on the ceremony which was just magical under the huge branches of the oak tree. Everyone was seated under the tree and for us it symbolised what the day was all about. Family and the bringing together of two families now grown into one family tree. Our photographer’s attention to detail was amazing and she took lots of pictures that captured the charm of the venue and has really helped create a wedding album that tells the full story of the day.”

“It was a really great day. The sun was shining, what can I say. It was an extra-ordinary beautifully normal day full of friends, family and love. My face was hurting from smiling so much.”

Jennie describes the day as, “A relaxed ceremony full of love, a special day full of little glitters of magic.”

The reception celebration dinner continued inside, Jennie telling, “Kellybrook provided the perfect venue for us and they totally got the relaxed style we were after. They worked with us to tailor a food and beverage package to include boutique beer and catered for all our guests special dietary requirements. They tailored the food to help us create the feeling of a provincial style family meal while still providing a high quality modern style menu. Everyone at the wedding loved the ceremony under the beautiful tree but everyone raved about the food.”

“We had a few DIY touches on day. I had some fun doing up quirky props for a Polaroid photo-booth so that people could get creative and take photos to stick in the guestbook along with their message. All the family pitched in to make up little moustache’s on sticks and tie little thank you charms around tiny little Bonne Maman jam jars for the bomboniere.”

Ab Fab Cakes created a simple white wedding cake which was topped with fresh flowers.

Imagineering shot a film of the day, Jennie noting “Our cinematographer Imagineering made us the best wedding video ever. Full of quirky moments that make me smile every time I watch it. They edited the video to perfectly match the style of the wedding and the mood on the day. We didn’t even notice that they were taking the footage that they did.”
