brisbane wedding photographer

It’s always wonderful when we have an incredible photographer on our books and with that, you need to meet Luke of Luke Going Photography. Based in Queensland, Luke travels the country shooting weddings in a spectacular fashion. His mission? To engage with you to create stories, memories and photographs that capture who you are.

We asked Luke from Luke Going Photography five questions in five minutes –

Favourite after 5 drink?

This seems like quite a boring answer, but it would have to be beer. I am a man, like many, who enjoys the bitter-sweet, fizzy & wheaty flavour of a well crafted beer. To be honest I am a bit of a beer snob. I am always on the look out for a new brew to sample, being more partial to the Ale’s. My faves at the moment are Atomic, Mountain Goat, Mad Brewers & Little Creatures.

Favourite weekend getaway?

My partner and I have just returned from a week in Melbourne, so I am pretty in-love with that city right now. We live in the hinterland of a pretty sleepy coastal area called The Sunshine Coast, QLD. As lovely as the lifestyle is, we become starved for cultural stimulation at times, and a trip to the city infuses our soul with an abundance of fine food, fine art and fine friends. That to me is the perfect getaway. I am not sure if I could maintain the hectic lifestyle of living in a city like Melbourne, so I am happy to keep it as my mecca of madness.

Favourite restaurant?

Well, as I mentioned in the last response, we have pretty limited culinary options living here on the coast. Of course there are some great place that we visit regularly, but the standout restaurant of choice would be The Spirit House in Yandina. This place is phenomenal. So good in fact, that you have to book 2-3 months in advance if you want to dine on the weekend. Exquisite Indo/Thai cuisine at its absolute best!

Sunday morning breakie?

Having 4 kids to feed means that we have to get creative on the weekends. So, pancakes with yoghurt, stewed fruit and a few other naught options like nutella and banana are my faves.

Favourite wedding story?

It would be hard to pick one story as my favourite. I am always the most enamoured with the most recent wedding I have shot. It is the lasting resonance of concentrated romance that seems to linger with in my mind. But my favourite ‘story’ would come from one of the hundreds that I have heard unveiled during the speeches at a wedding. This is one of my most treasured times of the day, as I really get an insight into the lives and character of the clients I have barely had the chance to know. The stories are always very intimate and expose the hidden layers of the bride and groom’s personality. Because I can’t capture such words on film, I usually get to sit back and enjoy the campfire yarns, spun so eloquently and bravely by the most comedic of guests. I’ll have to remember one for when I get asked this question again 🙂
