Sault Estate Barn

If you’ve ever been lucky enough to spend a weekend in the Daylesford Region, you’ll understand the sense of serenity and relaxation that immediately descends upon you as you drive into the town. Particularly at this time of year, the colours of Autumn are striking, and the roads are cloaked with rich reds, browns and yellows that welcome you like  warm hug.

Only an hour or so out of Melbourne, this boutique-style country town is touted as a favourite place for pampering, with both Daylesford and its neighbour Hepburn Springs world famous for their 72 health-giving mineral springs and over 30 spas, wellness retreats and healing centres.

Mr Herringbone and I were invited recently to tour the best venues that this beautiful region has to offer, with stunning spaces, menus drawing from the region’s best produce and accommodation that will blow your socks off.

As guests of the Daylesford Accommodation Booking Service (DABS), we picked up the keys for our place, the gorgeous Aria (complete with huge spa and grey kangaroos to welcome us) and settled in. Nestled amongst the trees and creeks of the area, Aria was just right for our little party (us plus baby), but would be perfect for the newlyweds or wedding guests looking to indulge in a woodfire, spa and the wines of the region. Not to mention the huge bed!

Our weekend itinerary would be indulgent, but a spectacular tour of the area. Starting with lunch and tour at the scenic Sault Estate, afternoon tea and exploration at the picturesque Daylesford Convent, dinner and a wander around the famous Lake House, and lunch the following day with a peek into the rooms of Frangos & Frangos. Phew!

Over the next two weeks I can’t wait to bring you the behind-the-scenes views of the best of the best of Daylesford, with some of the most amazing wedding venues on offer!
