Lisa & Hugh

Victoria’s high country provides a spectacular backdrop for a wedding – especially when you’re lucky enough to know someone who knows someone who owns an incredible property fitting for a marquee wedding. Well, it’s  more simple than that- Lisa and Hugh married in a local country church, holding their reception celebrations on Hugh’s family farm which is pretty darn famous for it’s incredible gardens and set the scene perfectly for a garden party wedding captured by Love, Katie & Sarah.

Lisa tells, “We met at University 10 years ago, but didn’t get together until three years after that. Hugh had to chase me for about a year before I finally said yes, lets go out! ”

Lisa and Hugh married at St Pauls Anglican Church in Gisborne “We got married at St Pauls Anglican Church in Gisborne, Victoria. We those this church because it has connections the family, is a very beautiful building, with stunning stain glass windows and a lot of character.”

Of their photographer choice, Lisa tells, “When we came across the website ‘Love Katie and Sarah’ we were blown away and immediately knew we wanted them to photograph our wedding. Katie was absolutely delightful leading up to and on the day of our wedding. She was relaxed, easy going and had a laugh with our bridal party; it felt like we weren’t even being photographed! We were delighted by how natural the photos are. It is so hard to choose a favourite because they are all so beautiful! Katie stayed until 11pm and captured our entrance, speeches, first dance and our guests; this was really important to us.”

The family farm provided a beautiful backdrop for the couple’s wedding photographs. “We were so lucky to be able to have our photographs taken all over Bolobek; providing so many different back drops. We were able to use the beautiful green garden, the jetty at the dam and also the paddocks.”

The reception was held on Hugh’s family farm, says Lisa. “Our reception was held at Hugh’s family cattle property ‘Bolobek’ at Mt Macedon. Our guests mingled for drinks and canapes before entering a marquee (hired from The Marquee People) which was set in the garden.”

Lisa’s bridesmaid’s boyfriend designed the stationery for the day – including the order of service, table cards and seating chart.

For their first dance, Lisa remembers, “Hugh and I waltzed to ‘To Love Somebody’ by the Bee Gees. It was a very relaxed dance and we learnt a few steps prior to the wedding.”

One final story sticks in Lisa’s memory. “We stayed at a B&B the night of our wedding. In the morning, the owner said she had candles ready to light along the decking and in the room. However, we didn’t get any candles lit “because brides normally come home before 12pm, not after 2am!”.”

Congratulations on your marriage Lisa and Hugh! Thank you for sharing the story of your day with us! Thank you also to Love, Katie & Sarah for sharing today’s wedding with us.
