There was no doubt about it – walking into the Lovelocked wedding fair this year was all about love, design, and inspiration! The set up was incredible, matching that of the industrial venue Lightspace (a firm favourite of mine in Brisbane).

Shaun & T-J from Lemon Tree Film House said “we wanted to be a part of Lovelocked because we love what it stands for… originality… this is exactly what we strive for with our work. Every single vendor is CRAZY passionate about what they do. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?”

If you’re not familiar with Lovelocked, then let me tell you that it is a fresh new bridal fair alternative. Lovelocked holds a ceremony on the day (this time with real-life couple Steph and Pasha) and has talented vendors that participate in every stage and detail.

Of the ceremony, Callie Marshall from Florido Weddings said “my favourite part of the day was getting to know Steph and Pasha. I met them before the Lovelocked event and it was like watching one of my couples walk down the aisle, including all the excitement and (a little bit of) nerves.”

Zen Catering was Lovelocked’s exclusive caterer and I couldn’t have heard better reviews about their impeccable food! I spoke with Monica who said “our favourite moment of the day was the groom’s face when his gorgeous bride, Steph, walked down the aisle. Most people look at the bride, but to see the love in Pasha’s eyes after already being married for nine years was truly beautiful”.

Lauren Veling from Velbella was particularly excited about doing the hair and makeup for the ceremony as well as the hair for the fashion parade. After chatting with Lauren, I found out that Velbella also offer hen’s night packages which can include hair and airbrush makeup tutorials, makeovers, and pamper sessions.

Our own Ms Polka had a tablescape styled after her “Industrial Botanical Bash” inspiration board. Nicole from Beautiful Weddings said “we teamed our timber trestle table with green industrial style chairs. Tall dark timber candle holders graced the table with beautiful coloured floral arrangements from Brisbane Market Flowers. Gold tea light holders ran the length of the table surrounded by moss. We also supplied a seating chart frame and the talented Laura at Cartamodello Papeterie supplied the timber seating plan and menus”.

Nicole let me know that Beautiful Weddings have a unique offering for couples – “the chance to go into our styling studio and have a hands on experience by doing table mock ups with us until they are completely satisfied with the overall look, style and feel”.

I was certainly blown away by the gorgeous tablescapes as was Ellen Powell from Blushing Confetti. “My favourite part of the day was after everyone had set up, sitting back, sipping champagne (of course) and looking around in awe at all the amazing setups. Blushing Confetti creates simple designs with a statement element to make an impact on your guests.”

Specialising in destination weddings across Australia and overseas, Anthea & Lyndon from Anthea & Lyndon Photography and Video, offer couples both photography and videography in one place. “We specialise in full day coverage because we like to tell a story from the beginning to the end.”

When asked about her favourite part of Lovelocked, Debbie Thomas from Vellum Studios said she particularly enjoys “talking to fab couples who are planning their big day”. Vellum Studios have bountiful experience as photographers (over 10 years and 350 weddings to date), and they truly believe “when it’s a once in a lifetime event, experience really counts.”

Sarra Tyler from Keep Me Scented gifted each couple with a soy tealight candle in their Lovelocked gift bags. Not only do they smell amazing, but their soy candles are available to purchase online (in a selection of scents and sizes), and they ship anywhere in Australia!

I also caught up with familiar face, Greg Fields from AVIdeas. Greg recently contributed to our post on wedding lighting, and his display of gorgeous geometric hanging lights caught my eye. “Our all time favourite is to work in partnership with other vendors to see a wedding or event such as Lovelocked come to life.”

I bumped into Lachlan Huddy from Surrealtime Media when he was looking for someone to twirl a ribbon. I obliged and found out that Surrealtime Media offer slow-motion photo booths. In his words, “we set up [everything] and get you and your guests to cut loose while we capture the action in super slow-motion video.”

Overall I think the success of Lovelocked certainly lies within its quality vendors and unique experience – something every couple wants to have part of their own big day! Congrats to Tessa and the team who put together Lovelocked.
