Welcome to “Behind the Door With…..”! A new fortnightly series where I take you behind the scenes and discover the inspirational work spaces of some my favourite creatives. So much fun!!! Where they work, create, collaborate and what makes it feel like home for them and their business.

This week I had a chat with Aleisha from Georgeous. Georgeous has an outstanding reputation for creating and planning immersive weddings, injecting small surprises and stylish twists that all work together to create unforgettable events.

With a stunning collection of furniture, props and decor items, Georgeous outgrew their St Kilda based offices and have created a new space adjoining their Glen Iris warehouse which they think of as ‘Georgeous HQ’.

Originally a mechanics workshop, the oil covered floors have been replaced with timber and fitted out to incorporate open plan offices, a sunlit meeting space, craft workshop and home of the new hire range, The Georgeous Store.

Located at the end of a little pocket of industrial style spaces in Glen Iris, the Georgeous team are surrounded by friendly neighbours and their go to cafe, Platform Espresso. One of Aleisha’s favourite stories about the street is that it is apparently owned by a dog who was left the estate in an elderly lady’s will!

Timber, vintage pieces and handcrafted elements combine to create a soft, slightly ethereal styled space that is constantly changing and inspiring. Aleisha loves all the living greenery and really misses it when they take the plants out for a sunbake once per month. You can tell straight away that the team here love to create and surround themselves with pieces from some of their favourite designers as well as handcrafted installations made especially for each wedding.

In the middle of the warehouse the car park and loading bay has made packing for events a dream – and it can also be transformed into a party space when required. It’s perfect for a long feasting table and Georgeous have even hired a vintage caravan bar for out the front.  It’s a space that the team hope to utilise for the launch of the Georgeous Classroom,  where Creative Director Georgie will be passing on some of her industry knowledge as well as sharing the Georgeous story with aspiring stylists and creatives.

When I visited, the Georgeous team were excited to start rearranging the back warehouse to house a showroom for their hire range. I spied mountains of colourful cushions, delicate glass candle holders and one of a kind vintage pieces just waiting for a chance to shine. Aleisha explained that while the The Georgeous Store has a beautiful website where brides can pick and choose hire pieces, this new space will allow them to really have a play and design their own DIY weddings. The whole team is looking forward to helping brides get “a little bit of Georgeous”!

About Amelia Waddell of Make Your Day Wedding Styling: I’m a wedding stylist and proud store owner who loves to chat weddings with everyone and anyone! I love to talk shop with other business owners (particularly over some chocolate cake!) and am the first to try and have a sticky beak behind the scenes of any event. My free time is spent ‘investigating’ new cafes, stores and events. Make Your Day Wedding Styling is my creative outlet and I love nothing more than that ten minutes just before the guests enter the wedding reception, it feels like a special sort of magic!
