Steph & Andrew

Steph and Andrew set out to celebrate with their wedding guests in one big party and hence, this modern winery wedding came to life. A day among the vines in the beautiful Summer sunshine followed by a feast and dancing set the story for a beautifully romantic wedding day, all captured by Daniel Brannan.

Steph and Andrew met at work, Steph tells. “We met at hospital, Steph is a nurse & Andrew is a doctor!

We got engaged on Christmas Day 2013. Andrew had purchased the ring in October that year and was waiting to surprise me with the engagement on Christmas day as all of my extended family were coming together from overseas. He had wrapped the ring up inside multiple boxes so that it took me about 5 minutes to open. Once I finally got to the ring box my heart started racing and I turned to Andrew and he had a big smile on his face saying, ‘Will you marry me?”.

After that he cooked me breakfast in bed and we celebrated with Bollinger champagne for breakfast in bed.

About a week after proposing we started a major renovation on our house. We lived in our house with no bathroom or kitchen for about 4 months whilst we renovated which was certainly a test on our relationship. The renovation helped to put the stress of the wedding in perspective as we managed to plan the wedding very easily and agreed on every detail together. I really enjoyed planning the wedding together and felt we both remained calm throughout the process.”

Steph chose a halterneck lace gown by Hills in Hollywood. She remarks, “When looking for a dress I had no one style in mind – I was very open to trying anything on. Whilst waiting for an appointment with a designer on high street we decided to go into a store to try on a classic puffy prom dress.

After trying on about five other dresses and whilst in that shop I found my ultimate wedding dress. It was no where near the style I thought I would wear but I loved it! It had a high neck and was covered in lace. When I put it on I felt sexy and beautiful and when my mum and bridesmaids started crying I knew it was the one!! ” Steph’s bridesmaids wore marsala coloured dresses from Rodeo Show.

Steph remembers, “A moment that will stay with me forever is when I was all ready and I walked out and saw Dad for the first time. He started crying as did nearly everyone else in the room which was so emotional. I was so proud to walk down the aisle with him and he made me feel so calm.”

Winery wedding ceremony

Steph and Andrew chose Clyde Park Winery for their wedding, noting, “The main thing we wanted from our wedding was a big party. In choosing our wedding venue we wanted somewhere big enough so that we could invite all our best friends and family.

We also wanted to choose a venue that stayed open until at least 12am that would allow us to dance the night away. The other major thing we wanted was for our guests to be able to party straight after the ceremony without having to go to another location. In choosing Clyde Park our guests were treated with champagne and music straight after the ceremony on the terrace which allowed the party vibe to carry through to the reception.

Clyde Park Winery is a very rustic venue with wine barrels lining the space so we ran with this theme and made all our decorations to suit this. It was such a beautiful venue that we did not need to add too much of our own style in there as it already suited us so well.”

Nicole Penning officiated the ceremony, Steph telling, “We wanted our family to be involved and had a few readings however we wanted a short ceremony so we could get on with the festivities! We also decided to keep the religious aspect of the day to a minimum.”

Of their photographer, Steph remarks, “Dan was amazing, so calm and down to earth – he really helped to make the day fun & relaxing. We are so happy with our pictures – he caught the venue shining and captured everyone’s happiness. we would highly recommend him.”

Clyde Park Winery Wedding Reception

Steph notes, “One of the best ideas we came up with was our table decorations. In keeping with the doctor/nurse and party theme we decided to have hangover kits as our bonbonniere – we heard that most got used the next morning too! As we got married on a Friday we also made medical certificates for everyone with their names on it for their name cards on the tables – we came up with reasons for needing the day off for each person such as wedding fever or blistered dancing feet.”

Steph remarks, “The whole day was amazing, everyone told me to embrace every moment and that’s exactly what we did. I really enjoyed all the speeches as everyone put in so much time and effort in writing them. For me, Andrew’s speech was absolutely a highlight. He put so much thought into his speech and made sure I didn’t know what he was going to say. He said some lovely words about our friends and family and of course me, which really made the night.”

Band with Mr and Mrs Marquee Lights

Steph remembers, “We made all of our decorations ourselves including; chalk boards (made from our old fence palings), seating charts, ‘Mr & Mrs light up letters’ as well as wooden bunting. They all turned out perfectly and really added to the theme of Clyde Park Winery. Andrew worked so hard making all of the decorations.” The couple chose Baker Boys Band  to get (and keep!) their guests on the dance floor.
