We’re knee-deep in the holiday season and if you’re planning a Christmas wedding then you’re probably wondering how you can incorporate a little bit of the festive spirit into your celebration without turning your reception into Santa’s Village! This mini wreath boutonniere is a gorgeous minimal alternative to the classic floral arrangement – and the same concept could also work for table settings, napkin rings or decorative details for your tables. Imagine a larger welcome wreath at the door! But don’t limit this idea to just Christmas – it would work well for a romantic garden wedding too!

What you’ll need:

Wire wrapped into a circle
Floral wire
Scissors
Rosemary
String
A safety pin

What to do:

1. Tie the end of the wire around the circle, leaving about an inch poking out up the top (this will make fastening it to your jacket a bit easier).

wreath2

2. Bunch three pieces together and use about an inch of floral wire to wrap around the bunch to hold it in place next to the wire that is poking out the top. Do the same on the other side.

3. In a braiding motion, wrap the three pieces of rosemary around the wire circle in a braiding motion. Repeat on the other side.

4. Take three pieces of wire and wrap them around the sides and bottom to hold the rosemary in place. These can be loose if you want to remove them later.

5. Trim the rosemary so it is a bit neater and more of an obvious circle.

6. Starting at the top, wrap your string tightly around the wreath. The top two centimetres should be tightly wrapped together (to cover the rosemary stalks) and then wrap the string about 1/2 centimetre apart around the rest of the wreath. Finish it in a bow at the top and remove the loose wire if you need to.

7. Wrap the loose part of wire around the bow and leave a little bit of space at the back for the pin to go through. Safety pin to your jacket.

Ms Chinoiserie Says: Such an easy way of adding something special to your groom’s outfit; the fresh scent of the rosemary is lovely too!
