Jacinta & John
Perhaps it is the soft afternoon light, so wonderfully captured for their portraits, or it might be the bride’s decadent gown that creates an almost otherworldly feel to this ethereal seaside wedding. Jacinta and John wanted a rustic, beach inspired theme, with a classy and fun vibe that all their guests could enjoy. The couple chose Daniel Brannan to photograph their elegant Geelong pier wedding.
Of how they met, Jacinta tells, “John and I met through mutual friends. We were friends for a few months before we started dating.”
The bride chose a dress by Deborah Selleck, who she notes was amazing to work with. “I always wanted a mermaid style dress however I originally wanted strapless. After a few meetings/ dress fittings with Deborah we were able to create the perfect dress with a high neck and low back, which I loved. My dress was made from a bone coloured silk and French lace beading. I also wore an Anna Campbell head piece instead of a veil.”
Both the ceremony and reception were held at The Pier, Geelong. Jacinta tells, “We wanted our ceremony to be very personal and something we would always cherish. The ceremony was out on the terrace which sits out over the water, with glass roof and windows for walls. We were fortunate enough to have a sunny early spring day so we had the windows open which gave it an outdoor feel.”
The bride walked down the aisle to an acoustic band playing “This Year’s Love” by David Grey, and Jacinta remembers, “We also had one of our best friends marry us which made it all the more special. He did an amazing job, and made it a very personal but relaxed ceremony.”
“We had the majority of our wedding photos taken at Corio Villa, an old house made from wrought iron sitting on an estate at the top of the large hill neighbouring the botanical garden in Geelong. I have loved this house since I was a child and spent many afternoons with John trying to figure out if and how we could get our photos taken at the house. After chasing up many dead ends, we ended up doing it the old fashioned way and knocked on the front door. Turns out the owners had always admired the house and were very proud of it, so were only to willing to help us out! We were thrilled and the photos were definitely worth it.”
Of their photographer, the bride says, “Dan was amazing. We were referred to him through a family friend and he made the whole process so much fun; even though we did book him almost 2 years in advance! He was always happy to come and meet us at home or out for coffee and scouted out the area before the day so knew exactly what he was doing.”
The reception was held in an adjoining room that was sectioned off during the ceremony, allowing there to be two distinct, individual areas within the single space. Of their reception decor, Jacinta says, “We sourced and organised most of the decorations ourselves, however we had the great staff at the Pier arrange them on the day/night. Erin, our event coordinator from The Pier, was a cracker. She made life very easy and made the whole process, particularly in the final few months, actually a lot of fun.”
The couple had a gelato van for dessert, remembering, “The guys at Bianco Latte polished off the day with some delicious gelato while wearing period attire which actually went with the theme of the wedding beautifully!”
