Summer Milton Park Wedding083

Alex & Nathan

This wedding just about makes me fall head over heels for Summer! The beautiful garden setting, the flowers that are woven through every part of the day and oh the love story – the love story is the best part. Alex and Nathan chose photographer John Benevante to capture their day.

Alex chose a Marchesa lace gown with a sweetheart neckline, telling, “I always knew I wanted to wear a lace dress as I have loved and appreciated beautiful lace since as long as I can remember. I only tried on three dresses and I ended up buying the first dress I tried on. I bought it off the rack but considerable alterations were made so that it perfectly fit my body. I also had the back of the dress removed to make it backless as this was always a component of my dream dress. I loved that my train was detachable, as it allowed me to have a bit of drama walking down the aisle but then feel comfortable at the reception because I didn’t have the train to manoeuver around, especially on the dance floor.”

Alex and Nathan were married at Milton Park Country House. Alex remarks, “Milton Park has the most stunning gardens and magical pathways we had ever seen in Australia. We wanted to get married outside and for our guests to continue to enjoy the beautiful gardens after the ceremony by having canapes and drinks on the Tulip Lawn. It was important to us that the venue was a ‘one stop shop’ where we could hold the ceremony and then seamlessly transition into the reception.”

Emma Blake Floral created a stunning floral arch for the ceremony, Alex remembering, “We absolutely loved our wedding arbor designed by Emma Blake Floral. Photos taken under the arbor during the ceremony are some of our favourites!”

Nina De Borde performed the ceremony, the bride explaining, “We wanted our ceremony to have an intimate but relaxed feel. We both had an opportunity to describe and thank each other for the qualities we most admire in one another. We asked all of our siblings to read a poem or excerpt.”

Of photographer John Benavente, Alex notes, “Our photographer captured all of the intimate moments and emotions throughout the day and night. He magically blended into the crowd and we were thrilled that his candid photos, taken in the style of photo journalism, as they really tell the story of our wedding.”

“The reception was held in a room called ‘The Orangerie’, which has plenty of large glass windows to connect the beautiful outdoor gardens with inside. We were so lucky to have perfect weather on our wedding day, although it was 30 degrees, the lighting was just perfect for photos. Creating an intimate feel for our reception, we had the tables arranged into three long banquet style tables. Nathan and myself sat at the middle table.”

So Watt Design Studio styled the wedding as well as designing the stationery for the day. The bride remembering “All of styling was guided and executed by an amazing design company called So Watt Design Studio. I couldn’t recommend this design company any more highly.  So Watt were involved from the very beginning and designed our ‘save the dates’, wedding stationery, wedding favours, personalised ‘a & n’ Polaroid display, handheld fans for the ceremony, personalised signage and structure for our wedding arbor to be installed.”

The newlyweds chose Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” for their first dance, the bride remarking, “We both love classic soul and funk music from this era. It’s a timeless classic that suited our wedding and each other perfectly. Plus the band we had played this genre of music and were able to perform it live.”

And then, it was on for young and all. “Our amazing band, Busy Hands , were phenomenal and ensured we had a great party!”
