Mike and Luci are the very real couple behind 1000 Fights. They have made it their mission to enrich their lives with travel and don’t hide the fact that sometimes couples do disagree.
“We are the Fighting Couple! Ok…Maybe that is a bit dramatic. We do disagree, but what couple doesn’t when they travel? We love to fight. We also love to travel. So naturally we decided to combine the two and share the outcome with the world. We are two type A personalities. We started fighting in 1st grade and haven’t stopped since.”

What is your favourite region?
The wonderful thing about travel is that it opens our eyes to entirely different ways of life. One of our favourite destinations is Turkey. Both of us are huge history fans. Turkey has some of the best-preserved Greek ruins. They even rival Greece itself! The food in Turkey is also incredible. It is a unique cuisine type. Don’t just think kebabs and falafel. The country has so many different regions to explore and experience. If you love beaches, there are incredible destinations along the Aegean coast. If you’re like us and want a little bit of history, check out Ephesus. If shopping is your thing, there is no better place in the world in the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul.
Top resort recommendation?
We are always looking for off the beaten path destinations. We love telling friends where we are going and having them do a double take. One of our recent adventures took us to the island of Borneo. For those that have not been, it is simply incredible. The flora and fauna are rare and beautiful. We cannot recommend it strongly enough. We elected to take a canoe trip into the Batang Ai Lake resort. It is a collection of lovely bungalows perched on an island of a clear blue lake. Using the resort as a base you can take canoe trips to jungle waterfalls, and meet with indigenous tribes.
Suggestions for great honeymoon activities?
We feel the key to a successful honeymoon is being able to engage in activities at your own pace. With all the stress and planning that goes into the actual wedding you need a break! We encourage couples to find a destination that meets their interests yet doesn’t require them put in a lot of effort. A two week road trip after a wedding would not be the best of ideas. An island getaway with plenty of water and hiking opportunities would be perfect.
The ideal location for a proposal
This is such a great question. We are bloggers. So you can imagine we always want to have a story to tell in all the big moments of our lives. You definitely want the perfect setting for the proposal. We encourage couples to pop the question at a place that is significant to both of them. If the two of you are music lovers, do your research and pick the perfect concert or important location. Don’t forget to ask for help. Many resorts will help you create something special.
Best kept secret honeymoon location
Of all the questions this one is our favourite. The best place in the world to have a honeymoon is Bali. Located in the warm waters of the Java Sea, Bali is one of the friendliest islands we have ever been to. Bali’s beaches are breathtaking. If you’re into hiking, there’re many beautiful jungle hikes that you can take. The best thing about Bali is it’s very affordable. As we mentioned,the perfect honeymoon is one where there’s no pressure or rush. Bali can offer all of this and more. Bali has resorts for every budget. Budget conscious couples can live like a king. The food in Bali is also delicious.
