It’s advice often given that your wedding day will fly by. More often than not, this is directed to the bride, to enjoy her day and live in the moment. But let’s not forget the groom! Amongst the busyness of the day there’s a few things to remember that will help you enjoy every moment to the full.

1. Be organised

This is self explanatory, however, there are a few particular aspects of your wedding day when this will come in very handy. Be sure your outfit is cleaned, fitted, and ready to go for the morning of the wedding. Have your shoes polished and ready in advance, even lay things out if this will help.

A last minute panic for a missing tie or cufflink is not a good start! Have transport for family and the bridal party clarified with those taking part, organising this well in advance to avoid stress on the day. Carry some extra cash for emergencies. Be sure of your transport following the wedding to your chosen destination. Have your speech written, rings safe and bag packed for honeymoon.

Having a clear idea of how things will run on the day will ease the pressure of mistakes, and will have you prepared for most situations.

2. Optional extras

There will be a lot of nervous excitement in the run up to your wedding day, and you may be focused on the necessary practicalities that need to be organised. This is good! However, if you’re looking to spread a little extra love, you’ll need to have this planned in advance.

Would your bride-to-be enjoy flowers being delivered the morning of the wedding? Or a love letter? Perhaps you’d like to give gifts of flowers to family during your speech? You may want to prepare a car picnic for journeys to and from photo locations.

There are limitless ways you can make this special day even more special; it just takes a little thought and a little extra planning.

3. Focus
It’s the advice you’ll hear plenty of times before you even get to your wedding day, but sadly, the day will be over before you know it. Make the most of every moment, be attentive to your new bride, maybe even steal a few moments away just the two of you.

All the busyness of a wedding is great fun, but don’t forget the weight of the promises you’re making to one another. This is a big day, and you won’t want to forget a second of it!

4. Have fun!
You’re as organised as you can be, the nerves will be high and the excitement at seeing your wife-t0-be will be overwhelming. Make sure you get to eat the food, enjoy the cake (I missed out on mine, OH the regret!), dance as much as you can and if things go wrong, roll with it!

Having friends and family that are attentive to your hopes and wishes for the day will come into this in a big way, so if there’s a particular way you’d like something to happen (speeches, dancing etc), let those close to you know. They can corral the crowds much more easily than trying it on your own!

Don’t feel pressure to do things ‘the right way’; do them your way and you’ll have the most magnificent day you could have ever imagined!

Ms Chinoiserie Says: Wonderful advice – particularly about being organized ahead of time; you don’t want to be in a mad panic looking for cufflinks on the morning of the wedding!
