Lucy & Allister

Choosing to hold your wedding at home can prove to be an overwhelming feat, but it also lends itself to a very personal, relaxed feel to the day, that is so uniquely you. Lucy and Allister chose to do just that, the bride explaining, “Our wedding day was unique as all the details were very individual, and kept in theme with our relatively new found country lifestyle.” And the results are wonderful. They enlisted the help of Ben Clark Photography to capture the warmth and fun of their rustic, retro country wedding.

Lucy wore a gorgeous lace gown from Jane Hill, her hair and makeup was created by Kristina Canzoneri and she completed her wedding look with a fabulous, luscious flower crown. “We had an enormous amount of faith in our florist, Flowers by Marni, who put together the most extravagant, incredible native flowers we could have imagined. We went for a natural theme, focusing on textures, colours and the inclusion of lots of different berries and nuts.”

Allister choose a navy and white large check suit jacket from Harrolds, adorning a dapper, blue bow tie to complete his retro theme wedding attire.

“I arrived at the ceremony on the back of an old Massey Ferguson Tractor, with our two gorgeous flower girls – the daughters of some of our closest friends.”

For their wedding ceremony and reception venue, the couple kept it close to home and chose to hold their day at their property on the Mornington Peninsula. Lucy tells, “We used our own property, which was a lot of work but so glad that we did! Our ceremony was at the bottom of our property by the creek, and we had built a platform especially for it. Our friend, Jarrod Troutbeck, was our celebrant which was really special, and we wrote our own vows.”

Ben Clark Photography was on hand to capture their relaxed, beautiful day. “Ben was such a pleasure to have down from Brisbane as our photographer,” gushes Lucy. “We had met him previously at a wedding, and were instantly comfortable with his style and demeanour. We didn’t choose a photography style as such, we trusted Ben to work his magic and capture moments as he saw them.”

“We spent six months prior to the wedding preening the property within an inch of its life, and everyone commented on the detail,” Lucy says of the work she and Allister put into getting their home ready for their day. “After the ceremony all our guests walked back up the hill to another part of the property that was set up with multiple food trucks sourced from the Malbec Catering Co, drinks caravan, picnic tables, fire pits and festoon lighting. It was an amazing atmosphere, where everyone was able to mingle, eat and drink into the night.”

“There were so many highlights in our day, it is hard to pinpoint one. It was very humbling and special to witness our family and friends speak about us, and the effort they put into constructing the hilarious and thoughtful speeches was incredible. It was great to see everyone we loved having such a great time, and we had the most special day of our lives!”

Lucy and Allister chose to have a Crème Brûlée cart instead of a cake, as they felt it was more appropriate with the style of the evening and their taste. ” It also provided quite a spectacle with the blow torch,” laughs Lucy.
