Carmen & Will

We fell in love with Carmen and Will and their country wedding on first sight. With the most magnificent backdrop of rural Australia, the formal black tie dress code of their graceful country wedding worked as the icing on the wedding cake and the perfect way to let their story unfold. The beautiful photos of  Edwina Robertson tell their story.

Carmen starts us off with the story of how she and Will came to be. “Will and I met at agriculture college in Geelong in 2010 and were introduced to each other by a mutual friend, who was a bridesmaid of mine.”

Carmen chose an Amsale  ballgown from (now closed) Anna DaFonte.”I chose my gorgeous Amsale “Cameron” gown because of its simple but glamorous structured silhouette and beautiful sheer lace detailed back. Gown shopping with my mother-in-law, Trina Ronald, and one of my bridesmaids, Chloe Shannon, was such a special experience and a pleasure to be able to share it with them. I only spent one day looking at dresses and knew straight away that this was the one…very cliche but when everyone cried I knew it was meant to be! I purchased my gown from Anna DaFonte . Anna, her staff and the in-house seamstress provided impeccable service, advice and did such a brilliant job.”

“Will and I were married in his parents’, David & Trina Ronald, garden on the farm where he grew up and we now live alongside his parents. Will’s parents created the garden from nothing over the past 30 years and now that we also live at the farm it was very sentimental for us too. Following a garden ceremony, guests were hosted in a marquee erected on the tennis court for a sit-down dinner and dancing.”

Kimberley Rixon performed the ceremony, Carmen remembering “We wanted to ensure that our ceremony reflected the significance and importance of the occasion. We included two readings…”Love” Roy Croft and “Blessing for a Marriage” James Dillet Freeman. We also wanted to make sure that our ceremony was unique and also included a Rose Ceremony.”

Of their photographer, Carmen remarks “We could not recommend Edwina Robertson more highly! She was an absolute pleasure to work with and we thoroughly enjoyed having her as part of our day. Edwina was so much fun and her easy going nature ensured that our post-ceremony photos were fun and brought the best out in our bridal party. She also did a fabulous job of capturing so many genuine, candid moments of our guests during the reception. Edwina captured our special moments in the style and essence we could only have hoped for. Eddy has an incredibly busy schedule and we were very lucky to benefit from her dedication and commitment to rural people. Despite a wedding on Friday night, two very early Saturday flights and then a 1.5-hour drive to the farm, Edwina did the perfect job!”

Stockholm Florist  created colourful floral arrangements to decorate the day, Carmen explaining “I love flowers, so for me, the decorating of the marquee and all facets of the floral design was so exciting. Tove absolutely got my vision and was so wonderful to work with in achieving what we wanted.”

Of their first dance, the bride recalls “We were both really nervous about getting up in front of all our guests so we just tried to relax and have fun, and made sure our guests joined us as soon as possible. Will chose The Four Tops – “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch).”
