Lisa & Ken

Peony season is always much loved in Australia and I always adore when my inbox starts to fill with photos of the gorgeous fluffy blooms. So you know I adored the bright and bold peonies in Lisa and Ken’s peony-filled Hunter Valley wedding. Combining the bright coral pink with pale grey and the stunning vineyard backdrop was the most beautiful way for these two to tell their love story, their dreamy photographs beautifully captured by We Are Origami.

The newlyweds share their story. “We met at a mutual friend’s house party. A couple weeks later we ran into each other again and the rest, as they say, is history.”

The bride wore two dresses, the first one designed by Karen Willis Holmes . She tells “This was the first dress that I tried on and it was perfect! I did try on many other dresses but kept comparing them to this one.”

Lisa and Ken chose the chapel at Chateau Elan for their ceremony, Lisa and Ken explaining “Carriage House was perfect because it’s a chapel converted from a barn so very cute and relaxed. We wanted to combine tradition with a modern twist. There were many tears from the bridesmaids even though they promised to hold it together! We wrote our own vows.”

Of their photographer, the newlyweds note “We were very lucky to have Dave Duong who is a great mate from We Are Origami and his associate Kwa.”

Wild Blossom Flowers created the floral arrangements, Lisa and Ken noting “We wanted lots and lots of peonies mixed with green. We also had a hanging floral centrepiece above the bridal table.”

The stationery added to the bright floral vibes of the day, Lisa and Ken telling “The invites were designed by one of our very talented bridesmaids (Wendy) who hand painted them in watercolours. The theme was based on the floral inspiration for the day.”

Reception celebrations were held at the beautiful Lindeman Winery.

For the reception, the bride changed into a Jenny Yoo gown, remarking “It was a very classic, clean and simple style.”

The newlyweds kicked off the dancing with their first dance, remembering “Our first dance was choreographed over two one-hour sessions. We chose ‘Hero’ by Family of the Year for our first dance.”

“We loved the location, the people, our bridal party, the laughter and tears.”

Congratulations on your marriage Lisa and Ken! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to We Are Origami for sharing this wedding with us today!
