If you’re looking for a gorgeous gift for your bridesmaids that is quick and easy to create, look no further! This easy no-sew clutch only requires the bare minimum of materials and is super fun to make! A gorgeous gift that can be filled with some luxurious treats, this is a handmade present that will be treasured for a long time.

Sketch a template similar to this one for a small clutch, or let your imagination run wild! You could elongate the shape to make a case for sunglasses, or make the entire design much bigger, perfect as a holdall for your bridesmaids on your wedding day.

You can find almost every colour in leather and remember, if leather isn’t your thing, you can always swap the leather for a softer fabric like suede or even a heavy linen.

 You Will Need:

  • Piece of leather (I ordered mine from Etsy)
  • Sharp scissors
  • Stanley knife
  • Pencil and paper to draw template on
  • Template – I used an A4 piece of paper and sketched a few different sizes for this design. My finished template measured from side to side 21cm, and from top to bottom 21cm. Have a play with different options (considering the size of your piece of leather), remembering the side flaps fold in and then the bottom flap folds up to create the clutch.

What To Do:
Step One. Begin by cutting one long strip of leather approximately 30cm long and 5mm wide (this is suitable for the size mentioned above, you will need to adjust this if making a larger bag).Once you have decided upon the size of your no-sew clutch, sketch it onto a piece of paper. Lay this template over the top of your leather, and cut out neatly with sharp scissors.

Step Two. Using the stanley knife, make a small incision on the bottom flap, 2-3cm from the base. Make sure it is wide enough for the leather strip to be fed through.

Step Three. Turn your piece of leather right side down, and slide one end of the strip of leather through the incision on the bottom flap. Once it’s through, tie a knot at both ends and trim neatly.

Step Four. Now it’s time for assembly! Keeping the leather piece right side down, fold the two side flaps in, and then fold the bottom flap up. Wrap the long piece of leather (the tie) around your clutch and tuck the knot in to hold.

Add a little extra something by embroidering initials on each bag, or by making them in different colours. Be sure to fill them with something lovely, and your lucky bridesmaids will be thrilled with their gift!
