Happy Monday Dotties!  We are deep in the depths of Winter in these parts and taking solace in our warm, cosy homes.

Grey days, misty mornings, crisp sunny days – the weather has certainly changed and so has the light. Earlier evenings and softer light is an excuse to decorate everything at your wedding with candles. The most stunning decoration is hundreds of candles gently flickering for the most romantic atmosphere – no other decoration needed.  Our talented vendors in Ms Polka Dot’s Directory have many more ideas to assist you. We have Cinematography, we have Hair & Beauty, we have Menswear and Food Trucks – we even have Photography and Venues! You’re sure to find the perfect vendor to help you create your wedding vision.

Being in the wedding industry, we all love weddings, but Studio Sixty Photography’s Sally and Jason especially exude that warmth and excitement that comes from a deep enthusiasm of their craft. Their images are clean and beautiful putting you front and centre, bringing out the best of your wedding day. Their relaxed and friendly attitude helps you to relax in front of the camera, even if you hate having your photo taken – now that’s a plus!

We asked Sally of Studio Sixty Photography five questions in five minutes:

What is your favourite after five drink?

I’m always partial to a negroni – I remember having my first one and being horrified at how bitter it was but now I love them. It tastes exactly how a summer afternoon should feel! Jason is a true beer man – he loves to try something new so at the moment he’s fallen hard for the Hitachino Nest beers from Japan.

Your favourite weekend getaway?

Paris if I could travel at the speed of light! However given we work most weekends (the downside of being a wedding photographer) we often steal a few nights away up the coast at Sunshine Beach. We have a little place there and we can bring our dog Crinkle so it makes it extra special.

Favourite restaurant?

That would be a tie between Wasabi at Sunshine Beach or Urbane in Brisbane. I love cooking and read recipe books like most people read novels so I look for food experiences that wow and excite and make you talk about it for days afterwards. You can often find me trying to recreate a dish I’ve had at a restaurant but usually failing miserably.

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?

It’s boring, it’s plain but it really can’t be beaten. Eggs (cooked for 5 minutes exactly) on toast. If we head out for breakfast (depending on how late a night we’ve had) I normally order have some kind of omelette while Jason has anything spicy! It’s so predictable that I normally can pick what he is going to order before he orders it! He especially loves Shaksouka or the classic savoury mince on toast.

Your favourite wedding story?

There have been so many it is really hard to choose – like Ross and Eleni  – they lived next door to each other and had been friends for a long time, till Eleni decided she would go on an overseas trip. Seems Ross couldn’t wait so he flew over and told her he loved her. So romantic. But then there is Emma and Phil’s gorgeous country wedding at Spicer’s Peak . Emma has the most amazing taste and everything was just so beautiful. Small and elegant and filled with love. I also love Jacob and Laura’s wedding –  – although it was a long time ago I still love the feeling in the photographs. We have kept in touch with Jacob and Laura and photographed each of their children as they’ve arrived so their wedding means more to me knowing it was the beginning of their gorgeous family! That is really what makes weddings so wonderful – it is the beginning of a wonderful life together and we get to be there right at the start. It really doesn’t get much better than that!
