Krissy & Adam

It’s simple really when a love story like Krissy and Adam’s comes to life. A golden sunset, an array of beautiful flowers and a pledge for forever. Corny, perhaps, but the words that transpire, exactly what it’s all about – what we live for, what we get out of bed for and what we love coming to work each day for. This Tanglewood Estate barn wedding, captured by Perla Photography, with its sweet little white wedding chapel and heartfelt story is just the way we love to end the week.

The couple, who met in high school, tell their story. “We met each other towards the end of high school through mutual friends. Over 11 years ago now! Time flies! We have been able to grow together which has helped build a strong relationship.”

The bride had one very special request for her bouquet, telling “There was only one flower I specifically asked for – an orchid. This was very important to me. I remember these in my grandma’s garden. She loved her orchids and spent a lot of time tending to them. She was not well enough to travel to the property but it was a nice reminder on the day.”

The bride chose a gown from  Raffaele Ciuca, noting “I was actually very nervous about my choice of dress. I love lace & intricate detailing, and this dress had both, it fitted perfectly, but it was just so different to other wedding dresses I had seen and imagined I would choose. It wasn’t until the morning of the wedding when I put the dress on did I really fall in love with the dress! Now looking back at the photos I am so happy my bridesmaids and mum helped me make this decision. It was one of the best decisions I had made! But one of the hardest! I love my dress!”

Bunches of blooms with soft pink peonies contrasted against the bridesmaid’s navy gowns. The bride remarking “My florist Oh My Dahlia was amazing. Understood exactly what I was after. The colours I wanted were deep maroons & dusty pinks with lots of overflowing greenery. Dahlias are a favourite of mine and we had plenty. I was surprised on the day when Sheena showed me she had found peonies in March! They were perfect!”

Krissy notes “I walked down to “A Thousand Years” but played acoustically by our two piece band. So beautiful! This was one of the songs I did not have any trouble picking.”

Krissy and Adam chose Tanglewood Estate for their wedding, marrying in the onsite chapel. “Our venue was amazing! Every last detail has been thought about so intently and it really shows. From the amazing vast grounds, the open spaces, the quiet little spaces, the gardens, the lake, the chapel! Everything about this property is beautiful. This was the first place, Adam, & I visited and we just knew our wedding had to be here. It is a place we could very happily live.” says Krissy. “The chapel is over 100 years old, brought down from rural Victoria to be rebuilt in such a careful manner. This chapel is very special to us. Standing up there with my soon to be husband with the sun shining down on us through the beautiful windows was breathtaking.”

Marry Me Megan performed the ceremony, Krissy remembering “Megan is very talented. She made us feel so comfortable. We wanted all our guests to enjoy the ceremony and be a part of it with us.”

“Laura was perfect. She made sure we were in the right positions, moving along according to schedule.
She was able to give us direction when we needed it. I think her work speaks for itself.” tells the bride. “After our first meeting with Laura I was very comfortable about giving her the responsibility to capture our special day, I had no worries at all.”

Krissy remembers “My favourite part of the day was going out during dinner and taking beautiful photos at sunset, around the lake, with my husband.
Adam’s suit jacket had come off, my veil had also come off, it felt a little more relaxed. It was just the two of us. The perfect sunset on a perfect day. I had tried not to worry about the weather on the lead up to the wedding, what ever it was going to be, it was going to be, I couldn’t change it. We were so very lucky! I wouldn’t have changed anything for the world!”

Celebrations continued inside the winery. Krissy telling “The timber clad reception hall was perfect, with an outside deck and grass area for guests to sit out and enjoy the view of the lake & bay. We had a perfect 30-degree day in March and were able to use outside, I am so happy we did, it was a great vibe. I remember walking up to the winery while getting photos taken, I could see & hear our guests talking, laughing and then a background of amazing music rolling throughout the property. It was so nice to see everyone enjoying themselves.”

Guests took home little jars of seeds created by the bride, who tells “I  made our bonbonnieres. Nature is important to us, we enjoy being out and about in nature so it was a no brainer that we would choose something similar for our wedding gift. We ended up choosing everlasting daisies. I thought this was a nice touch.” Krissy also created custom candles under her brand Zgela Soy Candles

Krissy notes “Wedding planning felt like it was a full-time job. It was very time consuming, but I am so happy I had the opportunity to take on the challenge. I tried not to get too caught up in making everything too perfect and to try and remember the main reason why we were having this day, because of our love for each other. Sometimes you can loose sight of the end goal but you just need to keep reminding yourself why you are doing it!”

The newlyweds chose two songs for their dance, remembering “We started dancing to “Turning Page” I loved the piano in the song. It was a song I had been drawn to for a long time. Adam is into different kinds of music to me. So for Adam, we played a song by Pete Murray “Saving Grace” we both loved it. It was decided we would end with “Saving Grace” and the MC would welcome our bridal party to dance with us as this song started.”

Congratulations on your marriage Krissy and Adam! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us! Thank you also to Perla Photography for sharing today’s beautiful day.
