Sophie & Luke

There is a definite sense of fun party mode at today’s relaxed South Coast wedding. The bride and her father arrived on push bikes, to a ceremony space that was decorated and designed just for the couple. If that isn’t the most wonderful beginning to marriage, I don’t know what is! Anthea and Lyndon were there to capture the day both in stills and moving pictures!

Of how they met, Sophie and Luke remember, “We had mutual friends throughout high school and college but it wasn’t until we were both single after school that we crossed paths and the rest is history! On our five year anniversary, Luke surprised Sophie by taking her for a walk down a new path in South Durras (where her family coast property is) which had personalised pavers in it. Luke arranged to have one placed asking Sophie to marry him which was a huge surprise! We got married a year later; on our 6th anniversary.”

The bride chose a gown by Grace Loves Lace “My dress was by Australian designer Grace Loves Lace. I love the relaxed style of their dresses and it suited our wedding perfectly. During our engagement I was pregnant with our first daughter so it was difficult to know what size I would be once she was born (7 months before the wedding). The stretch lace in the dress was the perfect option as it allowed me some freedom with size when the wedding date arrived.” Her bridesmaids wore blush pink gowns from ASOS and Forever New.

Sophie and Luke chose Sophie’s family property for their wedding ceremony, explaining, “The wedding location was at Sophie’s family property in South Durras. Her dad put in a lot of time and effort to help us create the perfect garden location in what felt like the middle of nowhere. It was a beautiful slice of paradise in the middle of the bush. It was really special to get married where Sophie had spent a lot of time growing up and where our family would spend so much time in the future.”

“We decorated the jars and arranged the flowers in them, made the seating chart and bunting. We collected all the chairs for the ceremony and made the bench seats ourselves. We also collected most of the other decorations from inside the old sheds at the property.”

Durras Wedding

One of Sophie’s bridesmaids held the couple’s baby girl, Sophie noting, “We wanted to make sure our daughter, Maddie, was included in the ceremony so she was up the front with us. We also wanted to include our mums in the day so they were our witnesses.”

“We wanted the ceremony to be full of love and have a comfortable, relaxed feeling to it. The day was about celebrating our love and family and we just wanted to enjoy the moment with all of the people who are special to us.”

Rainy wedding moments

“The day couldn’t have gone any smoother and the weather was really on our side. It was an overcast day and during the ceremony we had some big claps of thunder at appropriate pauses and it didn’t rain till about 5 minutes after the ceremony finished. We had a few minutes of heavy rain which was fun and then it cleared up for the rest of the day until we finished photos; then it started bucketing down again! The timing was perfect.”

Of their photographers, Sophie and Luke note, “Anthea and Lyndon were really lovely, organised and professional which meant we didn’t need to worry about the photos at all on the day or in the planning process.”

The newlyweds chose Coachhouse Marina Resort for their reception, explaining, “We chose the venue because of the beautiful backdrop and simple decor. It also helped that they organised so much of the night for us so we didn’t need to worry about anything.”

Of the first dance, the bride and groom remember, “Our first dance was sung by our wedding singer, Chad Croker. We chose Lego House by Ed Sheeran (again!). We both have two left feet so we just enjoyed the moment with each other and didn’t pull any fancy moves! ”

Anthea and Lyndon also shot a film of the wedding day for Sophie and Luke. I love the sweet, fun mood of their film!

Congratulations on your marriage Sophie and Luke! Thank you for sharing your wedding with us! Thank you also to Anthea and Lyndon for sharing today’s wedding with us!
