When it comes to floristry, I love that the seasons change and with each of them comes a new flush of different flowers and plant varieties. It always makes it exciting and new – and it is something I look forward to.

When brides think wedding flowers, they often think of Spring and its abundance of choice and this is true….however, there are also so many gorgeous flower choices that come through at the flower markets at other times of the year and Winter should definitely not be forgotten!

Winter sees so many different and beautiful varieties that aren’t available at other times of the year – which makes them so special!

Various different looks can be created for a winter bride. Something I love to incorporate into winter weddings for my clients are tulips. They come in so many inspiring colours and shades; so many different varieties also provide many different effects.

Apart from the traditional kind of tulip we also source varieties such as the gorgeous double-layered petal tulips which are almost peony like – or frilly edged French tulips in pretty blush colours and sculptural Parrot tulips as well. They give so much beautiful texture, form and movement to an arrangement and work so beautifully with other seasonal flowers that are around as the weather cools down.
