I can’t get enough of magical wedding photography. You know the kind – the moments in between, the unexpected glances, the stolen kisses and romantic gestures. This week’s vendor of the week Darin Collison Photography‘s talent lies not only in capturing those moments, but in thinking differently about your wedding day. His work, well, it really speaks for itself. Darin is based in Melbourne but travels often.

We asked Darin from Darin Collison Photography five questions in five minutes -

What is your favourite after five drink?

Negroni. Equal parts gin, vermouth, Campari. Shake and strain. Mmmmm…

Your favourite weekend getaway?
I’m a wedding photographer. I don’t get away at weekends. But if I could, I would head up the Great Ocean Road.

Favourite restaurant?
Cicciolina.

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?
Depends. My choice – Huevos Rancheros. My wife’s – eggs Benedict. But the girls usually win, which means pancakes with lemon and sugar.

Your favourite wedding story?
I was shooting a wedding at St James, in Brighton. The priest was welcoming the guests and opening the proceedings. I was kneeling in the aisle, a couple of rows from the front.
As he talked, he walked slowly down the aisle. He stopped right by me.
Putting his hand on my shoulder, he announced to all and sundry, “And isn’t it lovely to see someone kneeling in church.”

Our wedding directory  is a force to be reckoned with! We’re filling it’s pages with Bridal Gowns, Photography, Cinematography, Celebrants and much much more! I love a good polka dot wedding, so take a peek and see which fantastic vendors are available for your wedding day!

This week’s vendor of the week is an incredible Melbourne wedding venue! Treasury Restaurant and Bar is located right in the heart of Melbourne city and has an architectural charm that many older buildings within the Victorian capital offer. A grand sweeping staircase and atrium overlook the historic Treasury floor. Able to accommodate both indoor wedding ceremonies, cocktail and sit down functions, Treasury Restaurant and Bar is a versatile, elegant space with all the grandeur of yesteryear. Right next door is The Sebel Hotel allowing you and your guests to stay overnight, and makes a great destination wedding for those flying from interstate.

We asked Nadia Olliver (Event and Wedding Manager) from Treasury Restaurant and Bar  five questions in five minutes -

What is your favourite after five drink?

I just love a vanilla vodka, watermelon liqueur, fresh lime and lemonade. YUMMO! Always goes down well after a long day and night of pampering our bridal couples and bridesmaids. It’s fresh, a little flirty, and anything served in a martini glass is guaranteed to put me in a good mood!

Your favourite weekend getaway?

I’m an original Sydney-sider, since moving abroad from NZ, shhhhh.. don’t tell my Melbourne colleagues… so a visit back to Sydney to catch up with my friends and family, is always on my top list.

Favourite restaurant?

A home cooked meal is my favourite… Nothing better than trying to recreate some of the dishes I see being produced at Treasury. Good wine, company and of course a tasty dinner is a must have at my place. I’m still trying to perfect the roast baby spring chicken with sweet corn puree and spring peas Trevor Knight, Treasury’s chef whips up!

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?

Should I have a Sunday or Saturday morning without a wedding on that day, I head to Las Chicas in Balaclava to have their breakfast burrito. It is simply amazing, you must visit.

Your favourite wedding story?

What I like best about my role is the journey I’m allowed to be taken on with the bride and groom. From learning how they met, how he or she proposed (yes it does happen) to the finer event details and then seeing their magical wedding comes together. Each wedding is so different and special, beautiful couples with amazing stories.

Shannon Fleming, a Perth civil celebrant has teamed up with a group of Western Australian wedding professionals to hold a wedding workshop. A different way of meeting vendors and other engaged couples the workshop is all about sharing knowledge rather than selling. The workshop will be held on Wednesday 18th July 2012 at 347 Cambridge St, Wembley. Tickets are $125 or $200 for a pair and a notebook, finger food, champagne, soft drinks and wine are included in the price.

I am the sentimental sort, so I think wedding films are an essential to a wedding day. Nothing is quite the same as hearing your wedding vows, seeing loved ones who have passed dancing, to your favourite song and even showing this most precious day to your future children. I will happily watch anybody’s wedding film knowing each one is a sacred moment in time and full of so much love and so many memories.

So with that, today I introduce our vendor of the week Amy Nelson-Blain Wedding Cinematography. Amy captures beautiful films, not only of weddings but of engagements and everything in between to help you relive your wedding day.

To learn a little more about the face behind the business, we asked Amy of Amy Nelson-Blain Wedding Cinematography five questions in five minutes -

What is your favourite after five drink?
A hot milky cup of tea! That is, if I am relaxing at home.

Recently while I was out to dinner with friends, I tried a “Purple Haze” cocktail, which included Gin, Violette Liqueur, Lemon Juice and Egg whites – It was divine and such a pretty violet colour!

Your favourite weekend getaway?

A secret cottage nestled in a mountain valley. Far away from the hustle and bustle, drinking wine and listening to good music.

Favourite restaurant?

That’s a tough one. My favourite Sushi restaurant is Sagunja, and Spice Temple is probably the best Asian cuisine restaurant that I have been to in Sydney.

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?

Rye/Wholemeal pancakes with maple syrup, cream and fruit! And a hot chai latte!

Your favourite wedding story?

My favourite would have to be something that occurs in the editing room, whilst scrubbing through the wedding footage; the bride and groom wear lapel microphones during their ceremony vows, I love listening to the sweet nothings that they whisper to each other that no one else can hear, but the tiny microphone picks it up. It is so precious!
