Perth Zoo Homstead Barn

Fancying marrying next to the elephants? Perhaps penguins are more your style? The Perth Zoo offers a gorgeous rustic stylish function area plus you get the added benefit of furry and not so furry friends joining you on your wedding day! The Perth Zoo Homestead Barn can hold 200 guests or more if using the adjacent courtyard. Mustard Catering holds the contract for Perth Zoo, so check out their website for more.

Villa Pourzand

More “French Rustic” than “Australian Rustic” I still love the feel of Villa Pourzand. Located in the beach side suburb of Cottesloe, Villa Purzand has a minimum of 40 guests and can cater to 120 guests for a cocktail function or 90 for a sit down. Visit the Villa Purzand website for more.

Chapel Farm

Swan Valley’s Chapel Farm offers a beautiful rustic style venue with a capacity for 250 guests. There’s a private waterfall and lake on site (great for your ceremony)  and a bar located within the restored homestead. Visit the Chapel Farm website for more.

Sandalford Winery

From the gorgeous underground cellar to the oak room, Sandalford Winery has a range of function spaces that are beautifully rustic. Kidogo Art Institute

Kidogo Art Institute is a stunning limestone building sitting right on the beach. Located in Fremantle, the venue has two galleries available for hire (the smaller White Gallery can only be hired together with the Large gallery and makes the perfect place for ceremonies or pre dinner drinks) The exposed beams and beautiful limestone walls make this a gorgeous blank canvas for your event. Cambinata Farm

Cambinata Farm, a working yabbie farm in Yallingup. The venue can cater to 200 guests. The onsite shearing shed is a great option for functions with a baby grand piano and beautiful candelabras available for use. Guests can even camp on the property! Visit their website for more information.

It’s always been a Melbourne icon, a place to gather, to congregate, celebrate and now Brisbane has got a hold of it and is making it it’s own. The Stokehouse has recently swung open it’s doors in Brisbane and with it’s stunning architectural features and amazing food is setting the scene for today’s venue profile!

Located conveniently on Brisbane’s riverfront in the Southbank precinct, The Stokehouse is almost a crowning jewel in amongst the beautiful restaurants Brisbane has to offer. The stunning architectural features (I adore that wooden wall) make for a great backdrop for photos and the deck? How perfect for balmy summer nights with a cold glass of bubbles!

There are two function areas at Stockhouse Brisbane- the ‘Stoke Bar’ has a Mezzanine level and riverside deck while the entire venue can also be booked exclusively for your wedding. The mezzanine area can hold 60 people for lunch or dinner with a capacity for 80 in a cocktail setting while the entire venue can seat 180 guests or hold 400 for a cocktail function.Both options allow an inside, outside event with guests being able to take advantage of the glorious river views on the venue’s decks.

I’ll be honest though, the food at weddings is always something I remember and Stokehouse offers its famous high quality dishes to really spoil your guests. From entrees that include delights like crisp skinned Rannoch farm quail, gorgonzola polenta & caramelized pear or Beef carpaccio, horseradish crab, capers & black truffle vinaigrette to desserts like vanilla bean milk pudding, cherry confit & gingerbread cookie or The Bombe-frozen white chocolate parfait, strawberry sorbet & toasted meringue.

The cocktail menu is just as delicious sounding with delights like Pumpkin and Persian feta tartlet, Panko crumbed Mooloolaba prawns, sumac, aioli, fresh lemon, Chicken and porcini mushroom arancini and sweet treats like Valrhona chocolate mousse, confit raspberries and Orange and ricotta cannoli.

The Stokehosue also offers a three level beverage package including brands like Brown Brothers, Hoddles Creek and Laurent-Perrier.

It’s time for another well overdue venue spotlight! I have a bit of an obsession with Sydney Harbour. Every chance I get I want to be on a boat on the harbour or overlooking it. So I’m always in awe of the stunning venues Sydney provides with the most beautiful ways to exploit the beauty of the harbour.

The American Club is a 64 year old members only club which overlooks not only the harbour, but the Royal Botanic Gardens (so a great choice if you’re holding your ceremony in the gardens). The club was refurbished in 2010 and features striking, modern interiors with floor to ceiling windows for taking in the view.

The American Club has different packages available for weddings. Starting off with the “Classic” package which includes a three course menu, unlimited standard beverage package, parquetry dance floor, white linens and venue coordinator to the “Elegant” wedding package which includes delights such as a four course banquet menu, unlimited standard beverage package, parquetry dance floor, professional DJ, printed menus and an anniversary dinner for two.  The venue also has the capacity for cocktail events with inclusions such as a professional DJ, scattered modern furniture, four hour unlimited standard drinks package and parquetry dance floor.

But back to the banquet menu for a moment; while chicken and beef are always great options, it’s a little hard to resist the temptations of “Carnaroli risotto with smoked ocean trout, snow peas and roasted sweet corn, crisp dill” and “Atlantic salmon fillet, on dill and corn fritter, with chardonnay cream” not to mention desserts like “Lime meringue pie with passionfruit sauce and roasted hazelnut dust” and Mr Polka Dot’s favourite “Warm sticky date and pear pudding with butterscotch sauce and double cream”. (There is always room for dessert and if there isn’t, well you need to find your dessert stomach because it does exist).

The American Club holds 150 guests for banquets or 180 for cocktails.

I love the metallic tones of this venue- they really lend themselves to an urban, clean vibe. Perhaps fill the spice with white flowers with different te4xtures and candles in many different heights to add interest. For something different, compliment the chocolate and marble with bold brights like fuchsia, magenta, saffron yellows and warm oranges.

Al Ru Farm

I love the farm setting of Al-Ru located half an hour from Adelaide. It’s set on a cattle property and even has a b&b so the newlyweds can stay.  The converted barn is just right for a reception and has high pitched ceilings, modern polished cement floors and can cater to 80 guests sit down or 120 for a cocktail reception. Saltram Winery

Saltram Winery is located in the Barossa Valley and has gorgeous rustic style spaces for weddings. From the Grey Floor Function Room which was an old barrel room now complete with lime washed walls and a capacity of 100 sitting or 160 for cocktail functions to the Dolan’s Den Function Room which can seat between 40-50 or 80 for a cocktail reception and is just right for an intimate celebration. Stoneyfell Function Centre

Stoneyfell Function Centre sits just on the outskirts of Adelaide, part of the Stoneyfell Winery.  The rustic style function area can cater from 55 guests to 350 guests. Established in 1858, the hall features exposed beams and beautiful chandeliers. Check out the website for more information.

Kingsbrook

A different kind of rustic, Kingsbrook has a stunning orangerie which is a beautiful space for a wedding. There’s gorgeous accommodation onsite and the landscaping is picture perfect. Visit the website for more details.

Glen Ewin Estate

Glen Ewin Estate is one of my favourite rustic venues in South Australia. They have two venues – the rustic one being The Pulpshed which can cater for 300 guests seated or 380 for a cocktail function. With massive ceilings, wooden walls and surrounded by gorgeous gardens, it really is a beautiful venue. Check out their website for more.

Golding Wines

Golding Wines, an Adelaide Hills winery features a huge sandstone barn which can cater to 150 guests seated or 250 for a cocktail style function. There’s a beautiful outdoor terrace perfect for pre dinner cocktails (or wine, obviously) plus plenty of room for your ceremony. Visit the website for more.

Olivers

Located in McLaren Vale, Olivers has a a beautiful homestead (perfect for the night before or of the wedding) and a chaff shed built in the 1850s complete with exposed brick walls and pot belly heater. The chaff shed can hold 60 guests but can be extended onto the verandah for 100 guests. Check out the website for more.

Longview Winery

Nestled within the Adelaide Hills, Longview Winery has a gorgeous barn style function room complete with exposed beams, open fireplaces and corrugated iron. The venue can cater between 70-100 people depending on your style of function though there are different areas available for your needs. Check out the website for more.

Pennys Hill

Pennys Hill, located in McLaren Vale have a number of rustic style spaces beautiful for a wedding – from The Stables complete with sawdust floor which caters to 110 people to The Gendey Room which can accommodate 90 and many spaces all highlighting the country winery feel of the property. Howard Vineyard

The historic stone barn at Howard Vineyard, located in the Adelaide Hills can seat 120 guests or accommodate 200 guests for a cocktail reception. Check out the website for more.

Willunga Peacock Farm

Willunga Peacock Farm can seat 120 guests or cater to 150 for a cocktail style reception. The farm’s shearing shed and old stables make gorgeous wedding venues plus there is also a bed and breakfast on the property. Check out the website for more.

The Hundred Eaves

The Hundred Eaves is located on the Fleurieu Peninsula. The bush chapel onsite was built in 1862 and can accommodate up to 100 guests for a ceremony and can also be converted into a reception space seating 48 guests or 100 guests for cocktail functions. Check out the website for more.

Bird In Hand Winery

Bird In Hand Winery is a splendid place for a rustic style wedding with their barrel hall able to seat 350 or hold 600 for cocktail weddings. We’re going to kick off a new series of   profiles on Polka Dot Bride and I’d love it if you’d let me know where you’re marrying so we can profile some of our reader’s venues too! The Langham Hotel is one of Melbourne’s five star hotels (and one of my favourites) and has just launched their Ultimate Enchanted Wedding Package along with a range of Princess Packages. With the marble foyer and glittering chandeliers, it’s a decadent but convenient choice for a wedding.

The Langham Hotel is situated right on Melbourne’s Yarra River (Southbank) and offers 387 guest rooms of all shapes, sizes and budgets – so your guests can stay with you at the hotel. Upon booking a “princess package” your guests will even receive a discounted rate.

There are a number of settings available for weddings at The Langham Hotel- from the Alto room (my favourite, located on the 25th floor of the hotel with 180 degree views of the city and private balcony) to the huge Clarendon Ballroom (which is the largest space catering to 230 people) and the Yarra rooms. Each of the newly released “Princess Packages” contains the little touches the Langham is known for. From a  traditional afternoon high tea (“Happily Ever After”) with fluffy scones and ribbon sandwiches,  to a cocktail soiree (“Once Upon A Time”) with canape style dishes, roving desserts and even a chocolate fountain to the “Dreams Come True” package – the traditional pre dinner canapes, 3 course sit down meal and beautiful styling package.

Each package includes an overnight stay in the hotel (those pillows are some of my favourite in the world, so worth it!). For a couple who might want to go all out, the Ultimate Enchanted Wedding package includes absolutely everything you could need for your wedding day – from a range of wedding jewellery from Hardy Bros, a Jason Grech wedding gown, flowers, a bridal shower, a wedding cake, photography and videography, stationery, pre wedding pampering at the Chuan Spa and even Peter Alexander pyjamas (on top of a wedding ceremony for 200 guests followed by a reception in the Clarendon ballroom for 200 guests with a five course dinner). The newlyweds will be whisked to their presidential suite following their celebrations  and return on their one year anniversary.
