Palette Generator – Marie Antoinette Style
by Polkadot Bride
I recently wrote about the cool little tool from brides.com which generates fab new colour combinations for your wedding.
I just came across an even more inspiring one- but this one has a twist, it’s up to you!
The Palette Generator allows you upload the photo of your choice (and since we’re in wedding mode lets tailor it to our wedding!) and the generator will tell you the colours you could use to bring your inspiration to life.
Let’s take this gorgeous photo from the Kirsten Dunst film Marie Antoinette (a must see for colour inspiration!)

Upload the file to the palette generator and voila- it gives us this

Oh the possibilities! A wedding featuring soft greys, neutral browns and soft pinks with a touch of rich red and brown.
This bouquet from Brides in Bloom fits the bill
This cake from Planet Cake with its intricate detailing would work well

Didn’t We Almost Have It All- A Grey’s Anatomy Wedding
by Polkadot Bride

The season finale of one of my favourite shows Grey’s Anatomy aired this week with an (almost) wedding of characters Cristina and Burke.
Cristina has played the anti-bride in this couple. She’s struggled to become a ‘bride’ even with Burke’s pushing. This of course leads to everything falling apart in a way that only TV land can do!
But onto the details

Cristina (played by the gorgeous Sandra Oh) wore a $6,600 Amsale Aberra designed strapless mermaid gown and a gorgeous necklace (which was a Burke family tradition)
Bridesmaids Meredith, Izzie and Callie wore different chocolate gowns.
One of my favourite parts (which we didn’t get to see in the church but in an operating theatre!) were Burke’s vows
Cristina, I could promise to hold you, and to cherish you. I could promise to be there in sickness and in health. I could say till death do us part. But I won’t. Those vows are for optimistic couples, the ones full of hope. And I do not stand here on my wedding day, optimistic or full of hope. I am not optimistic. I am not hopeful. I am sure. I am steady. And I know. I am a heart man. I take them apart. I put them back together. I hold them in my hands. I … am a heart man. So this, I am sure, you are my partner, my lover, my very best friend. My heart beats for you. And on this day, the day of our wedding, I promise you this. I promise you to lay my heart in the palm of your hands. I promise you … me.
Sigh!
